Pubmed website not working on Xfinity
Hi,
I cannot access the government website pubmed on my home wifi. When I try using my phone (no wifi), I am able to access it. I've spoken to some colleagues of mine: those with Xfinity cannot access the website while those with different providers were. All of us were able to use just our phones to access it. I need this website for work. I must be able to access it from my home. Can something be done?

All,
We sincerely apologize for any issues you may be experiencing when attempting to access to the Pubmed website. Advanced Security blocks websites that are determined to be potentially dangerous. These sites may contain malware, spyware, ransomware, or viruses that can infect devices and make them vulnerable to personal data collection, blackmail, or attacks on other computers and networks.
If you are trying to access a website, that you think is being mistakenly blocked by Advanced Security, submit a request for re-assessment at spa.xfinity.com. The request will be reviewed, and an update will typically be provided within three business days.
We also recommend that you verify that you are able to access the site when not on a Comcast network/wifi to ensure this is a website error and not something being blocked by Comcast.
Thanks again for sharing your experience with us. This thread is now closed as it is over 1 year old. If you need additional assistance or would like to ask additional questions, we ask that you please start a new thread.

I too am having a problem accessing PubMed on Xfinity wifi. When I am off of the Xfinity wifi and using my mobile network, I can access PubMed. Further, using a colleague's Sprint hotspot I can access PubMed.

I am having the same problem- again, an XFINITY customer. I always knew XFINITY/Comcast was bad, but being the only internet service in the area, I had no other choice.
Regardless, this needs to be resolved. Many of my demands for school/work require daily access to Pubmed. The issue is only on my personal wifi. On my hotspot from my phone, I can access it fine. We demand a timely resolution to this problem.

What web address are you using? Does https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/ work?

Same here. I haven't been able to get on for several days. And according to https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/ and http://currentlydown.com/ the pubmed site is up.

I have the same problem on Xfinity internet. I found out that I can access the site on Xfinity if I connect to a proxy server (VPN) first.

I spent several hours on the phone with xfinity about this yesterday and spoke with 5-6 different people. Not surprisingly no one I spoke to really had a clue about or knew how to troubleshoot the issue. One person I spoke with told me the site had been identified as a security risk and blocked by the security team. I eventually sent them some IP address info from my computer and had it escalated to the advanced security team, but was told there won't be a resolution for 1-2 business days. I asked for a supervisor to call me after wasting half a day to get to that point and never heard back. One of the more frustrating issues with a cable company I've had to deal with and there have been many. I guess you can get away with whatever you want when you are a monopoly. Anxiously awaiting 5G to be done with this nonsense

Has anyone tried the CSA telephone number that I provided earlier ?
This appears to be a DNS problem. Checking the DNS, I get NX Domain (Non-Existent) Domain.

Hello. I can confirm that on our Xfinity internet account that the URL: www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov
cannot be accessed. Through my work I opened a VPN on the exact same computer, using the same Xfinity fiber, and could open that URL and pubmed--no problem as long as Xfinity doesn't see the URL.
I have called about this and as successed pushed it up to the advanced security group. Nothing yet.
You can also check if your computer or the web isn't working for a URL using this handy site: https://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/
Just type in the URL and it will show you whether the site or you are having the issue.
Hang in there everyone.

I received an phone message--that seemed like the world's worst PHISHING attempt, asking me to phone back to the elevated help center. I'm only using VPN now.
