Xfinity Data Usage Suddenly Increased. [Edit]
Xfinity: Had a poor experience with Xfinity Internet.
I was an Xfinity customer since last 3 years. Till April 2025, my data usage per month was never more than 600 GB as shown in my Xfinity account. For May 2025, it suddenly increased to more than 1.2 TB. I started getting warning SMS that my data usage had exceeded the allotted 1.2 TB per month. Xfinity account also showed that it was my first and last courtesy month and from next month onwards, they will start charging me for extra data usage. So, for month of June 2025, I started checking the data usage in my router statistics to see what was consuming so much data. I also changed my router password to prevent some unknown device from stealing my data. I was surprised to find that my router statistics showed way less data usage. From 1st June to 5th June, the data usage in router statistics was less than 25 GB. However, Xfinity account was showing data usage of around 325 GB. I talked to Xfinity Tech Support and also the Xfinity Security and Assurance Team and asked why there was a discrepancy between the data usage between Xfinity account and my router statistics. Both suggested that they cant investigate the data usage since I owned my own modem. Both suggested I should buy XFi modem or sign up for unlimited data usage. Both of these options would cost me extra money which I was not ready for. I opened a ticket couple of days back for investigation. But no response till now. Concerned, that I will be charged for extra data for June, I made a switch to another internet provider today on 9th June 2025
Summary of the story: It is a master plan by Xfinity to make us buy their unlimited data plan or XFi router. [Edited: "Soliciting"]

Huh. I experienced this too and switched over to an Xfinity gateway for this exact reason. It's good to know I'm not the only person who had this happen and for some reason, Xfinity's technicians couldn't find the problem.
