Xfinity App Port Forwarding Device Dropdown Has Wrong IP Address

I created a port forward to one of my computers. When the router changed the IP address of the computer, however, it did not change the address of the port forward.

In the app I delete the existing Port Forward and create a new one. The item in the device dropdown list still contains the old ip address, though - so there is no way to create a Port Forward to the new IP address.

How can I create a port forward to a device whose ip address has changed?

Thanks for reaching out, once you did the port forward https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfi-port-forwarding are you able to establish a connection ?

@XfinityOrlandoM I can not establish a connection. Because the IP address used by the Port Connection wizard is different than the IP address of the device.

user_vplq3b Thanks for letting us know. Ive done some more research on our end.

If the IP address used by the Port Connection wizard is different from the device's IP address, you can try these steps:
  • Check the machine's IP address: Make sure you're using the most recent IP address for the machine.
  • Change the port settings: Change the port settings on the computer.
  • Set the IP address manually: If the IP address frequently changes, you can manually set the IP address or configure a DHCP address reservation on the router.

Please send me more information on setting the IP Address manually. I don't know how to do it using the Xfinity App.

user_vplq3b Have you tried releasing and renewing your IP address to see if that helps, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/releasing-and-renewing-ip-address?

I just did that. But, as you know, that only reads what the router tells the computer the ip address should be. That would work if I could set the ip address manually on the router.

The concern is not "Account Management" help related. Topic moved here to the Home  Networking help section.
