Xfi Pod issue

I have been having issues with my phones connecting to our pods ever since we got them.  It is behaving exactly the same as this other support post that was posted a few months ago: https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/xfi-pod-issue/6795859182448c7bf16bfca0.  Someone stated that it was an issue with the newer gen modems and how they handle the different bands.

I am still seeing that exact same issue however that case has already been closed with no comments from xfinity other than asking people to message them directly for help.  Is there any fix for this with the new modems or is any patch planned soon?  I have been trying to get help from support, but nobody has been able to give me anything better than trying to restart the pods.  If there isn't a fix for this then I'll have to return these pods and come up with my own solution to extend our wifi.

After direct messaging support here then getting a tech to come out and try to fix this issue we were unable to resolve it.  I have purchased a different brand of wifi extender that is working great.  I will be returning these xfi pods and looking for a refund.

That makes my wifi a little better at range but it wont utilize the pods.  All that it accomplished was making everything prefer the 2.4GHz range from the gateway instead of connecting to a pod.

Howdy user_0fchpg 👋 Thanks for taking the time to be part of our community with your post! I understand how important it is to get a stable connection across all devices in your home, and rest assured you're in the right place for help with your xFi Pods 👍

When it comes to your phones connecting to your xFi Pod, can you describe what specific features or issues you're running while it's connected?

Our phones will not connect to the pods. We have a pixel 8 and an iPhone 16 pro Max.  Neither will connect to the pods.

My pixel will say something along the lines of "unavailable due to current security settings" when I get too far from the gateway where I'd expect it to connect to the pods.  Then I'll have no wifi at all.

Okay I appreciate the details 👍 If you're encountering the specific error message "unavailable due to current security settings" when trying to connect your phone to an xFi Pod, it may be due to incorrect network settings. You'll want to start by ensuring that your Wi-Fi network is password protected, has a unified network name and password for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, and is enabled and broadcasting.

It is setup with all of the default settings that came with the xfinity modem.  Our phones have no issues connecting to the gateway itself but refuse to connect to the pods.

user_0fchpg Thanks for letting us know! Are you able to connect to the pods with any other devices or do all devices have trouble getting connected?

All other devices seem to connect fine.  I can also force a phone to connect to one if I forget the network and reconnect while next to a pod.  However, as soon as I get near the gateway it will switch to that and never switch back to a pod.
