Work VPN keeps dropping

I’m using a company provided laptop and I must use a GlobalProtect VPN to log into my internal systems. About a month or two ago I started to get kicked off the VPN pretty frequently. Some days I can make it a few hours with no issues, but sometimes it happens every 15-20 minutes. This causes connection issues on the laptop until the connection resets. My work IT department has tried troubleshooting, they've given me a different laptop, and uninstalled and reinstalled the GlobalProtect VPN software. Other team members use the same VPN and xfinity internet and have not experienced the same issues. Other devices on my home network stay connected while the connection on the laptop resets.

I have the same issue....If I take my work laptop to my library and conenct, I can stay online for a full 8 hour shift. From my home, I get kicked off at least once every 20 minutes. Are there issues with the Xfinity router? Can we get a different model?

Xfinity wasn't ever able to help me with this, but I purchased a little netgear "wifi range extender" thing on Amazon that has one ethernet port and I plug my work laptop into that and the problem mostly went away. Be careful though because a lot of the range extender things have an ethernet port that is only for plugging a cable directly from a modem, so you need to make sure you get one that can use the ethernet port directly into your computer. (So this gadget is getting the wifi signal from the air and sending it to my computer through the port.) Hopefully that makes sense. Good luck!

Xfinity was no help with this issue, but I purchased a netgear "wifi range extender" on Amazon and it has one ethernet port. I plug my work laptop in using the ethernet port and the problem went away. You'll need to be careful though because some of the extenders are made to grab wifi through the air and send it through the port (what you need) and some of the extenders are made to grab internet though the port and push it through the air (not what you need). So just do a little research first, looking right now the netgear option is like $35, but there are a lot of cheaper options available that might work, I just can't vouch for them personally.
