Wifi and wired LAN connection issues w PC

I've been playing diablo 4 for a month now on a battle net launcher and even a month before using steam on pc been running into disconnection issues from both the LAN to pod connection and WIFI connection to where it drops me completely only momentarily to have to restart my game or lose my characters. I've tried restarting the modem got a cat 6 ethernet cable and have nothing blocking the modem.

Why is my connection not stable? Even my firewall is turned off while I try to fix everything the ports forward did nothing.

Hey @GENO9000,

Thank you for reaching out and reviewing our Xfinity Community Forums support page. We would be more than happy to assist troubleshooting any issues you may be experiencing with the Internet connection.

I appreciate you taking the time to attempt and use a different Ethernet cable for connection. Have you attempted to ensure the modem is receiving the best signal possible by removing any cable splitters between the wall outlet and modem? Is the coax cable also in good quality such as no hard bends, kinks, cuts, or bite marks that could cause issue?

@XfinityDemitrius

Appreciate You Taking The Time to respond. Thank you.

I know the last homeowner had wow the modem was placed downstairs. So after I did the self install I had issues with the Last ISP wires. I set it up for an xfi tech to come check the wire and run a new coax from the pole. The cable is ran through the ceiling and then spooled up right below the wall coax cable placement so it must be a splitter or a connector like extender to meet the new coax from the wall coax.

I need to recheck and see if i can run the coax cable  straight up through the floor to the modem. This has been the setup now up for 8 or months so just about 2 months ago it started acting up.

I had a tech scheduled to come out at 3-5 pm today but got a message at 830am that the tech in the area fixed an issue related to my problem and they didn't need to fulfill the appt. I just assumed it was something from the box or pole down.

Since changing ethernet cords from the cat5 one to a janky grey one its seems more stable. Today only had 1 disconnect. But the app doesn't help with any of that instability and its hard to replicate on pc when you don't know what's causing it in the first place. Xfi app says no outages. Good health. Strong wifi. 120% speed. At all times no variations. I get the majority of your customers don't understand technology but I'm 33 years old. I've been networking for ppl in homes for 15yrs from dial up to broadband routers, modems and with all the things I don't know from company to company like throttling and nobody here having fiber I don't know how im having any issues with everything in the green.

It's a lot of packet loss too like I look an the number sent is 4x smaller than received. The PC is the big issue ive been racing in diablo 4 for almost a month to be one of the first 1000 players to reach 100 on hardcore and have my name on a statue but the disconnects have killed 3 of my characters. Thats 150hrs lost of gametime because of this "120% speed, everything is in the green strong wifi" app checked equipment.

Any company not offering a 3rd party speed test or allowing me see exactly what I'm getting and what I'm not is just thinking I'm stupid enough to believe just anything with a green checkmark or im so impressed with how this modem is giving 20% more speed. Well at best the LAN cable i had could run over 1gb speed but it would hold and even tho my top speed is 1400 my adapter only takes 1000 and wifi says it can take speeds up to 1500 per my network adapter but at best I've seen it do 300 on a phone speed test. I thought using my wifi since it's wifi6 would be better then the pod Lan cable to pc. I guess not

It takes 5mbs to stream a movie yet at 1400mbs my flex box will buffer LAN lined to the modem and the tech who installed all this specifically mentioned that a splitter would not degrade speeds.

I'm on the road right now so heading back home to check the basement now. Would a connector be better or any break in the coax cable is a liability for service loss?

As I am sure you are aware, there have been numerous new stories about the game services and servers having issues. If you would like to schedule an additional service technician, we will be more than happy to schedule a service appointment.

Comcast does not charge for service appointments to repair Comcast-owned facilities or equipment rented to you by Comcast. However, charges may apply for service appointments when the source of your service problem is not Comcast-owned facilities or equipment rented to you by Comcast.

For instance, you may incur a charge for a service visit by a technician to your home in order to diagnose and repair problems with the In-Home Wiring used with your Xfinity services, or for the diagnosis of issues relating to the connection between Customer Equipment and your Xfinity services.

If you would like to schedule an appointment, please send our team a direct message with your full first/last name and complete service address (Including the city, state, and zip code). Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue.

@XfinityDemitrius after returning home I checked the basement and there was two coax to coax connector or extenders and attached to a splitter. So I just found the original coax brought the modem downstairs and voila. No disconnects or buffering on flex for a few hrs now. Appreciate ya.

Welp spoke too soon have now moved the modem a few different times and I am sticking using a coaxial to coaxial connector or extender to keep the modem upstairs and have downloaded a program and the gateway seems to be running and the issue is somewhere from the modem to the computer. I only have 1 50ft cord the others don't reach the pc and I can't use the pod connector since it's less reliable. I'm lost on the fix.
