Why is Arris SB6141 end of life?

I've read previously that Xfinity just obsoleted my perfectly good ARRIS sb6141 modem.Works fine and is a DOCSIS® 3.0 Cable Modem

Nice, thanks Xfinity.

You're Comtastic@!

I am now unable to connect to the internet on my basic 25mbit service.

Why specifically is this modem no longer supported or compatible?

Since the prior thread is now closed, I cannot reply to it with my question so I have to start a new thread.

"When reviewing the SB6141 equipment it does appear that it is no longer compatible with our services. You can also learn more about EOL modems [here](https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/end-of-life-devices)"

It's only an 8-channel device, and Comcast wants to spread things out more. Further, the manufacturer may no longer be supporting it, so Comcast cannot support it with any needed updates.

Basically, if it's still working, you can keep using it for now. At some point, Comcast may make some system upgrade that will prevent it from connecting.

Thanks but I wanted specific information from a comcast person. You say it may make an upgrade from preventing it. was there a recent upgrade? Mine started acting up a couple of weeks ago.

You can try posting your signals and event log to see if there is a problem unrelated to the modem itself.

Hello @user_49ad7a, thank you for taking the time to reach out to us on the forums regarding your concern with the SB6141 modem. I can understand the frustration this would cause when you are no longer able to use your service due to having an end-of-life device.

If a device is no longer supported by Comcast or EOL, this essentially means that we will no longer install the device, either as a new or replacement device. In addition, we will no longer recommend that customers purchase the device, whether new or used.

All the information in regard to end-of-life equipment and the causes that contribute to the equipment becoming end of life are found on the link provided in the prior post you referred to here https://comca.st/2YD4bcY.

I no longer work for Comcast.

@XfinitySean

My question was, should the device still work on a low speed tier? Or does Comcast deactivate the service?
