VAP is set to down

Hey all,

My Wifi is pretty squirrely  this morning and I'm trying to find the cause.  I say its the WiFi because that has been dropping out even for connections between devices both on my home subnet (so nothing going outside if the routing is correct).  One possibility is that I have a new M4 MacBookPro and this brings to about 10 the number of high-throughput devices on the local network, so I wonder if the access point is overheating as I'm restoring 1TB of data from my old  MBP to this new one at a fairly constant 15 MB/s.

I can't see much in the system logs although overnight it looks like the status of the access point was flipped a fair few times:

Anyone recognize these symptoms?  All devices have fixed IP addresses, and WiFi6 is disabled on the new laptop as is private IP address switching.  But things still seem a bit flakey so I'm having to use carbon copy cloner which automagically restarts stalled transfers.

user_f3moxoon our end we would want to check the signal quality coming into your modem if the issues continues. You can always see if there's a pending issue or maintenance being done in the Xfinity app. That does not seem to be the cause but it's always possible.

Thanks JosephA ... yup maintenance on the router was my suspicion.  I don't have (or want) a mobile phone so I have no access to the xfinity app and all the settings on the router are locked, so I don't think I could have accidentally messed it up.  I did check the signal levels but realized I didn't know what a normal range was and as the issues were mostly happening within the home network, I was kind of 50/50 whether this caused be caused by loss of upstream signal.  If it happens again, I'll post it.  Is there any way to check for overheating issues?

Overheating is honestly highly uncommon. Do you have the device in a ventilated area of contained within a shelving unit/entertainment center? Maintenance occurs normally in the early AM hours, and that is something unavoidable as we are traditionally deploying important device updates.

@XfinityThomasB Well, it may have gotten dusty, so I'll put it in the dishwasher.

Just Kidding!!  It may be a bit close to my other electronics so I'll move it a bit away to reduce interference if there's some slack in the cable.

Thanks ThomasB and JosephA for your advice.  I'll reopen this if the problem returns.

user_f3moxo If you mix some bubble bath in the dishwasher, it will work wonders, lol, kidding as well, major kidding lol. Love you humor my friend, right up my alley.

Keep an eye on it, I advise not keeping it around other electronics, if you do, keep some distance between the other boxes, and it should be fine. I have mine near some other gear, but really focused on keeping in the best spot with the most airflow possible.
