Unable to connect to 2.4 network
I'm currently trying to set up a Ring 2 doorbell, which only connects to a 2.4 ghz frequency. When going through the setup, it couldn't see my network. I have an xfinity gateway (not a pod), and so I went and split the wifi signal to try and see if it could see it that way. I named the two networks different things just to make sure. The device still can't find it. For that matter, my phone, nor could two other devices see the 2.4ghz network, so I've come to the conclusion that the 2.4ghz isn't broadcasting properly.
I've restarted the gateway, and I've tried to disable the 5ghz frequency to see if either of those could force the 2.4 signal to show up, but this isn't the case.
How can I get the 2.4 ghz frequency to show up?

I've had no issues for years having a dual band router that connects my IoT devices at 2.4 ghz and most everything else at 5G. Suddenly my router stopped broadcasting the 2.4ghz signal. I bought a new router and and the exact same issue is happening. Like others mentioned above, this seems really suspect, with brand new equipment there is no reason that the 2.4 ghz is not working. I'd like to be able to control my furnace, Xfinity. It's winter here...

Might be time to find a different service provider.

I’m having a similar issue. I have tried splitting the networks and none of my cameras or smart home devices will connect anymore. We had an outage because of a snow storm and all of my devices stopped working. I have a gateway XB7. What do I need to do to fix.

Everyone seems to be having the same issue. Myself included. It’s been going on for four months. I’m tired of calling in with no resolution. Technician has already been out. Olution. [Edited: "Inflammatory"] but yet they to raise their prices, it should not be this difficult. No one has time to keep calling over and over and spending hours on a telephone.

Any solutions yet? My Garmin fitness watch only works with a 2.4 ghz Wifi connection. It is not compatible with 5 ghz. It used to work fine up until recently; something must have changed. Now I can't connect to wifi or add music/podcasts to my watch. The Xfinity app does not allow me to split the bands. It also shows my watch as being "offline". What do I do?

I'm having the same issues. Today, my smart devices no longer connect to my XB8 gateway. Previously, I did not have my SSID split into different bands. Once the devices stopped connecting earlier, i tried to split the bands. Once I did split it, the 2.4 network did not show up anywhere for any device to connect to. I'm not sure what else to do here, but it seems like a ton of people are having this issue lately

Same thing happening to me now! A week ago my printer, doorbell cameras, etc stopped connecting to WiFi. They can locate all my neighbors wifi network SSID’s but not mine. Whyyyyy? Because I have Xfinity 🙄 and anything that connects to 2.4gHz no longer connects. To make the situation so much worse, customer service said it’s a problem with the devices and just wants to keep restarting my modem. Clearly from all these comments, this is not a new issue but one that Xfinity clearly doesn’t have a solution to. My job and school work has been affected because I need my printer. The only clear solution I can come to is to look for a new network provider

I am having this same problem. I have the xfinity gateway XB3.
I login to the Xfinity app, split the band, rename my 2.4 GHZ so I can identify it and it never shows up.
The strange thing is that it appeared suddenly last week, then it disappeared, and I haven't been able to get it back.
I've retried all the steps, rebooted my router a few times both via the app and by unplugging and plugging back in.
The 2.4 GHZ will not show up.
I also have multiple wifi compatible devices that I'd like to use, but can't due to the router.
I am potentially faced with having to purchase a third party router/modem which I'd rather not do.
Please help!
Thank you!

I thought splitting the router into 2 different bands, one 2.4 GHz , and one 5 GHz, both name differently, but that failed as the 2.4 GHz named one disappeared. It seems like the router still broadcasts both bands if you don't split them (which is how they used to function).
I was able to "fool" my devices into connecting to my main router by disabling the 5 GHz frequency.
Login to your router's admin site at
http://10.0.0.1/
Go to Gateway > Connection > Wi-Fi > Edit 5 GHz and select "Disable".
Reconnect your 2.4 GHz devices while the 5 GHz is disabled. Note: it seemed like the 5 GHz turned back on automatically when I was halfway through connecting. So, I had to disable it again.
I tried to attach a screenshot but this site won't let me (even though there's a spot to do it). Good luck!
(And, I'm hoping the 2.4 GHz band keeps broadcasting, I don't have high hopes, but maybe this is the trick!)

I fixed my new xfinity 6g router to accept 2.4. The problem with my router was not the 2.4 signal but the security level enabled. Most older 2.4 devices only use WPA2. WPA3 was only implemented in 2018, not sure why they assume legacy devices would suddenly work with new encryption protocols. To fix
log into your router at 10.0.0.1 admin:password ( yes, the password is password if you have not set it)
goto Connection
goto WiFi
edit the 2.4 network
change the WPA mode to WPA2
i had to re-setup my 2.4 devices but that may have been my fault for thinking they had the issue. But everything is now working.

I too had the same issue today, and after I disabled and enabled the 2.4 wifi via 10.0.0.1, my 2.4 devices started working again! Hopefully others can see if this will work for them.
