Tons of TCP retransmissions for seemingly no reason

Been having some problems with intermittent lag in my home network (xb8 gateway). Started using wireshark to try and get to the bottom of it and the big problems seems to be a ridiculous amount of TCP retransmissions (like half of all packets at times). It's so bad It stops all devices connection for about a minute multiple times a day. It seemed to have started out of nowhere and I'm getting really annoyed about it. I've spent countless hours trying to figure this out with IT people on the internet, as well as friends in the field and we have seemingly gotten nowhere.

Hey there, the linked conversation really didn't help with my situation, I have a gateway which ISN'T supposed to be doing anything like this, and I'm not able to find any information about getting help. Thank you for the link as I've tried quite a few things from it but it's incredibly frustrating as nothing works.

Hi!  Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to reach out regarding your connection. I would be more than happy to offer my assistance looking into this further for you. Are you using personal networking equipment or in bridge mode? If you connect the device to the modem are you seeing the same issues?
