Problem trying to connect Epson printer wirelessly to PC

  1. I tried to connect my Epson Workforce 545 printer to my Windows PC (v10) wirelessly from the printer control panel. I get 'A router / access point channel conflict has been detected'.
  2. I logged into my Xfinity Gateway. I went to Connection / Wi-Fi. Under Private Wi-Fi Network, I see my Network Name twice. One Frequency Band says 2.4 GHz and the other says 5 GHz. They are both using the same User Name / Password.
  3. I tried to connect wirelessly using the CD that came with the printer. The connection failed.
  4. if I look at Gateway now, it shows the printer connected. I assigned it to me. The printer shows the WI-fi connected symbols. If I look under Printers on my PC, it show the wireless printer with 'Driver not available' message.
  5. The printer and the PC are still not talking to each other wirelessly. Can you please help? Thanks.

@user_dec194 Thank you for reaching out on the Xfinity Community Forums. The "driver not available" message usually means the software is not installed or fully installed on the computer to use the printer. We would recommend you reaching out to Epson for troubleshooting.

@XfinityJanelle

Epson has tried multiple fixes to resolve this problem. They still have not figured out how to get my printer to work wirelessly with my 3rd generation Gateway. One of their solutions involved having a unique SSID for 2.4 and 5 Gateway frequencies. The Gateway site advised against doing that but I tried anyway. It did not resolve the issue. Last week, Epson escalated the issue to senior support and promised that I would hear from them within 24 hours. I have not heard back from them yet.

This is an old printer. If upgrade to a new printer, will this still be an issue? I saw one for sale that said it worked on 2.4 - not 5.  Have people been able to print wirelessly using the 3rd generation Gateway? Thanks.

Since we are not trained on this equipment, it would be hard to say if a new printer would connect for sure. However, it does not seem like our netwrok is the issue, so it may be worth a try!

Something to try.

If you aren't using 'pods', and have the 2.4 and 5G signals split already, you could try disabling "Advanced Security".  The HP printer folks say that messes with some of their printers.  Unknown on the Epson's but everyone uses the same cost reduced radios these days.
