Is 2.4 ghz supported?

My cameras that i had with at&t no longer work. They will not connect to the wifi. Do i need to buy 5 ghz cameras?

If you are using a Comcast rented gateway device, this may or may not apply anymore as a lot of features / functionality have / has been disabled.. YMMV.

The two WiFi bands SSID's have been combined into one with the Comcast gateway devices. Some devices get confused and don't know how to see / talk to combined SSID's.

If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the 2.4 and the 5.0 names and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's;

Associate the cameras with the new 2.4 SSID (broadcast name) and password.

Thanks for reaching out @user_35feb3. This might be a better question for the manufactures of the camera. I can tell you that as long as the security camera can connect to internet it should connect to Xfinity Internet with no problems.

I did look into it but i dont believe im qualified to be messing with the settings. It is all gibberish to me. I can tell you i only have one choice when connecting to the wifi so i believe the 2.4ghz and 5ghz are combined. If i buy 5g cameras would they connect or would i still need to seperate the two for it to connect? And id like to reiterate for Antoine the cameras will NOT connect to the wifi. All information is correct but it just will not connect. And this is happening on 2 different cameras.

Depending on the model of modem you have, you cannot seperate the bands. Do you know what modem model you have right now?

Oh okay! I noticed that is the same model as our XB7 modem. Are you renting the modem from us or did you purchase it @user_35feb3

If you are renting the modem from us, please follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the Xfinity app (download on the App Store or Google Play).
    • If you already have the Xfinity app, make sure you have updated to the latest version.
  2. Select WiFi.
  3. Select your network (also known as the WiFi name).
  4. On the pop-up, select Edit WiFi settings at the bottom.
  5. On this screen, you can view or change your WiFi name or WiFi password.
  6. Towards the bottom should be the option to “Split Bands”
  7. Please select "Split Bands"
  8. From here you will need to:
    • name your 2.4 GHz WiFi and create a password
    • name your 5.0 GHz WiFi and create a password
  9. Click Save after making any changes.

After these steps, you should be able to connect your camera.

All those details are in that link including what @XfinityAirelle stated above. It's pretty easy to follow the instructions. They are written for the non-techie. Why spend money on new cameras when you may not have to ? Good luck !
