Gigabit service running at 600Mbps... Multiple calls (details)
3/13/19 - TL;DR - This morning at 600. I used the xFi App to issue a restart to my modem and I'm back at 950. Hope Tier 3 folks can find out why my connection package is being set to a lower speed. Curious how long this will stay at 950 as well.
3/12/20 - TL;DR - xfinity was autoprovisioning my modem for the 400Mbps tier even though my account has reflected the 1000Mbps teir for over a week. This has been escalated to tier 3 support. Today's Post
I ordered 1000Mbps service... the modem showed up, I installed it, activated it, changed to bridge mode... I was only getting 600Mbps via https://speedtest.xfinity.com/.
I have a newly built gaming PC hardwired to my router -> modem. No issues transfering at 1gig between my machines on my LAN. My speedtests to xfinity have been up to 950 at times but not solid... story follows...
Ticket #1 - I called in, was on for probably and hour going through the dialogue/troubleshooting... eventually after all the stuff we tried, the tech pushed an 'advanced config' to my modem and after a restart I was at 950Mbps.
Ticket #2 - few days later - same issue - stuck at 600Mbps - call in - 30 minutes of dialogue and was then assured the tech will fix all issues. They told me that my gigabit service was not yet activated... even though they shipped me a modem, I activated it and was at 950Mbps prior. They told me that 30 minutes later, I should be good after they were going to make some changes. I was not good later on... still at 600Mbps.
Ticket #3 - I called in again and explained everything that's happened so far, they ran a few tests... at that time they scheduled a dispatch.
Tech visit - He proved out all coax from my modem location to the curb. All levels good, running clean. He even put on a pad to fine tune to get me closer to the middle of the acceptable range. He put his xfinity speed test device on the modem and only hit 600Mbps. At that time, the tech swapped to another modem he had in his truck(same model as the other) and with his test set hit 950Mbps.
All good...
Forward three days... new modem, running at 600Mbps....
Ticket #4 - Chatted with someone... explained all of the above. They told me they'd escalate to level 2 and if I got disconnected, they'd call me back.... they didn't call back.
Ticket #5 - I called back in and they had no record of that call 15 minutes ago. They told me I had the wrong modem... even though they provided it. Was on for over 1.5 hours and asked for a manager... spoke with a supervisor... he verified everything looks good config-wise and said I have a Technicolor modem CGM4140 and that I should try their Arris EG1682G to see if the different modem fixes it... both are used for XFINITY XB6 it sounds like? A tech is coming out tomorrow to swap modems.
Anyone ran in to this 600Mbps issue and had it resolved permanently?

I know this may be dumb for some of you, but some devices simply do not have the capacity to handle these faster internet speeds. Have you verified that your devices meet the minimum system requirements for Gigabit service? Especially user @afkouns it looks like your max speed of "just over 900" is the max you may be able to get hardwired.

@Hereforhelp Is your forum account a parody account? That's the only explanation for your post.
On another note, I bought my own modem. Am using my own router. I now get 940 down consistently. Was getting 650 down in bridge mode before (using xfinity gateway).

Considering it worked fine when I first got the 1GB service is January and the fact that I can hit 985Mbps transferring files back and forth on my NAS........I'd say yes my equipment is up to task.
I know what the issue is. It's the Node across the street. It's at 90% capacity for upload. The line tech told me as much and said this is what is causing the slow downs and disconnects. They need to add another Node to split the traffic, but in a meeting the xfinity tech went to he said they won't do it.
So I'm paying for a service I'm not getting. Furthermore, the problem has been identified and they refuse to fix it because of quaratine. The Node is outside! The quarantine is a poor excuse.
Look at down detector. Xfinity nor ATT can handle all the data under quarantine, heck they have slow downs before quarantine. They're selling speeds that the infrastructure cannot handle.

I have a 9900K, 32GB of Ram, NVME M.2, a 2080ti and I'm wired direct with Cat6. Doesn't get more past the minimum requirements than that.

Someone else called tridiep said this solved it for them on another thread, but I don't know what most of it means or how to do any of it. So, if anyone knows and can confirm that it helped them then here is what this person posted:
The issue has been resolved. I did the following not sure which one fixed the issue
Enable ipv6 offload
Disable net flow
ubnt@ubnt:~$ show ubnt offload
IP offload module : loaded

pppoe : enabled
gre : enabled

forwarding: enabled
vlan : disabled
pppoe : enabled

Now I can get full speed with xFI in bridge mode and my Endgerouter lite

New modem arrives tomorrow. The node across the street needs fixed before I see any real benefit. I have a ticket it for it, but it's hurry up and wait and see.

Same issue. Just got it set up and immediately checked speed. Gross misrepresentation. I have no words to express the exasperation, and I am weary of the monopoly these companies hold.

Aside from the Node being overloaded during the day and till much later at night the new modem has been working out pretty well the last couple days. It's the new XB7 (CGM4331COM) and I am using it in bridge mode. Around 2:30AM I'm hitting over a little over 900 down and 40-42 up which is where it was when I first got the service back in January. During the day the I'm getting anywhere from 10-20 upload which in turn slows my download by 50-150 roughly.

This is why I don't understand why Comcast took away the customers ability to change bandwidth channels for their WIFI connection. Now its done automaticvally by them, they claim for "performance". It doesn't seem to be working out too well looking at all the complaints.

😞 I'm kind of dissapointed with Comcast. I was really looking forward to upgrading to 1 gb service plan, but now I'm having reservations of even bothering with it seeing many others aren't getting the service they are paying for.

If you're thinking about upgrading to 1GB, unless you plan on using Comcast's modem in bridge mode, then you'll probably be okay. I don't know what happened. Last year I subbed to the 1GB XFiAdvantage and it was great, UNTIL...something happened in January that changed everything. And the comcast fellow, Larry, that I spoke to last week, squirmed every which way he could to place the blame on my equipment. Now I understand why; he apparently is aware of all the many many people reporting problems with the modem not working in bridge mode.
I have a Netgear CM1000 that will work with the service, but the plan costs less only if I use the Comcast modem. Otherwise, the unlimited data will not be inlcuded and I would have to pay $50 more a month. That's $600 a year - huge! These companies are becoming more and more increasingly greedy. The more we try to find ways to keep our costs low, the more they not only raise their costs, but literally prevent us from doing so. Meanwhile, it is my understanding that in some european countries, they don't have any limits on speed or data.
