Faster internet speeds not supporting the modem I just upgraded to.

I got an email saying my Netgear CM2000 is not supported, but the CM3000 is. As far as I can tell, the only difference between these is that the CM3000 is also a wifi router. 

Why is the CM2000 not supported?
