Epson wireless printer failing connection to home WIFI network, IP address mismatch

My Epson workforce 645 wireless printer has inexplicably lost its connection to my WIFI network. Attempting to re-install with updated drivers and software from Epson and setup fails. The printer's IP address is 169.254.121.XXX and the Xfinity router's IP addresses are all 10.0.0.XX. Is DHCP no supported any longer? I don't see any way to change the printer's IP address. My network showed the printer as a device but not connected before I began this.

Hi, @user_5d1880. 169.254.x.y addresses are known as "link-local", "MS Automatic Private IP", or "autoconfiguration" addresses ( see https://comca.st/3Gmd3nU ). Xfinity DHCP does not assign these addresses, devices assign them to themselves when they cannot connect to a DHCP server. Have you tried hooking up via ethernet for the setup process? Make sure your printer is set to use DHCP or if there is an option to set the IP manually or try to reset network settings. Let me know if you have any questions.

I no longer work for Comcast.

After  a month of trying to connect to our network, etc., we ditched the printer and bought a new one. It was 9 years old and all of the methods to get it to work would have cost more than it was worth (connector cord, ink, etc) So I got a credit for all of the ink and bought a HP. No problems. Welcome to newer technology.

I had my old modem... and I connected my old modem to the white Xfinity box but ethernet cable. Then I was able to get my Epson Stylus R3000 to connect to the old modem. So my computer when it uses the printer is using the older network's Wifi. Epson spent a lot of time with me. After reading all the posts here... I decided contacting Xfinity would be a waste of time.  Good Luck... any better solutions let me know.

God, I can't even understand these answers!

I just switched from Mediacom to Comcast in August of '21. My dear old EPSON Artisan 730 all-in-one wireless printer stopped working the same day. I've tried the reboot, I have used the cable, I've tried everything that I understood to do. I even went all the way back to the beginning using the installation CD. On the connection check, everything looks normal except:

DETAILED IP SETUP CHECK says UNKNOWN

Also, The message "A router/access point channel conflict has been detected" is there.

Cant someone tell me how to fix this? And PLEASE...Tell me like you're talking to your granny...

Thank you.

The most likely cause for printer connection (WiFi) is that many printers still require the 2.4 G band. Espessaly older printers.

Comcast equipment (newest versions) operate on the 5G band.   The printers should work if connected over Ethernet cable.

All.

The two WiFi bands have recently been combined into one with the Comcast gateway devices. Some devices get confused and don't know how to see / talk to combined bands.

If you are not using any Xfi Pods, you can try separating the 2.4 and the 5.0 bands and give them two different broadcast names / SSID's;

Associate the devices with the 2.4 GHz band's SSID (broadcast name) and password.
