Cisco VPN Anyconnect and new Xfinity Router V8

Ever since I received this new router my laptop computer that is provided by my work drops the VPN Connection.  Our company uses Cisco VPN Anyconnect.

It drops every few minutes and often cannot connect via the VPN.

Steps I have taken to troubleshoot.

1.  I am able to connect via the Personal Hotspot on my iphone 17.  Cisco VPN Anyconnect connects on my work laptop and stays running.

2.  I plugged my laptop into the router or wireless gateway directly and it stays connected.

3. My employer technical support believes after doing these troubleshooting tips that it's the wireless.

4.  Rebooted the wireless router or gateway.

I am not able to really get any work done.  I'd rather not buy a new router since I'm already paying Xfinity.  Please help.

Greetings @Hfreego, and thanks for reaching out to us on the Xfinity forums with your issue, I hope this message finds you well. As someone that also works from home I can understand the frustration of issues with the connection, but you have come to the right place for assistance. When you lose connection to the VPN, does the laptop also lose connection to the Internet?

@XfinityJeff I tried to access cnn.com and it would not let me.  I rebooted the router last week but today 4/13 it is dropping again.

Hfreego Is it just your work device that is giving you trouble? Are you able to connect to your in home WiFi with any other device?

Yes it's the work laptop.  It connects to wireless and then once connected the Cisco VPN Anyconnect starts to try and attach and it fails.  My home laptop, iphone connect to wireless with no issue.  Something with the VPN.  I connect via a wire to the gateway or router and it's fine.  Connects and doesn't drop.  I did some troubleshooting with my help desk and they are saying it's something with the wireless configuration.  If it helps I can tell you some of the errors in my VPN application.

1.  It will try over and over to connect to the VPN and the different backup ones and finally will fail "failed due to unsuccessful domain name resolution."
That's one error I got today.

Thank you for continuing to try and help me.

Hfreego This sounds like a band steering or perhaps a few other things. Since your issue isn't happening while being wired connected that means its not the service but something with the WiFi. Are you using a Comcast modem/router?

Yes I picked up the new version 8 when I was in the local store at the end of December 2025.  Someone from xfinity configured it so I could use it.  It's not plug and play like the person in the store told me.  LOL
