ARRIS GATEWAY

Setting up a new modem from xfinity and before I has connected any devices there were 5 devices by the name CTDI CMTX
And had the icon of a router I've been having problems ever since saying my smartphone is connected when I'm not even home also it renames the devices connected as I have a Samsung a53 and it renamed the device to SWDK3560 and I wastnt even connected to the network yet. Also my wife's iPhone connected to the gate way at 3am and she her device wasn't even near the area I mean she was at least a few miles away so Comcast seems to do nothing about my situation but tell me I need new modem. Got the new modem and same thing happened. Please let me know what I can do to fix this it's a bit of  a hassle and I feel not secured enough I've tried VPN and it doesn't seem to stay on and random settings are always being changed. I'm in need of some serious help..

My xfinity app just notified me that 4 new such devices connected to my network. I tried pausing one and was not allowed to do so. I added it to my unknown devices group and paused it and and now my xFi app shows that my Gateway is Offline but when I access my gateway locally, it all seems to be fine.

I recently just upgraded the modem and my speed package the operator  Professionally assured me that this wouldn't happen again anShe even gave me a $25 bill credit which didn't help much because as soon as I got the new modem I got hacked again oh my God it hacked again with the same exact devices CmBTX and their device bases we're logged on  the company is out of Texas and they make CT machines for the hospitals and doctors office.

Hey, @user_58d1db! Thanks for your comment. I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing a similar issue. I'd be happy to help troubleshoot and get to the bottom of this. Are you currently renting a modem from us or using your own?

Similar situation here - three unknown  devices connected during the activation process…  except I was able to pause the CTDI devices.   Did you ever find out what was going on with the unknown devices?? Thx.

@user_147ecf never found out xfinity kept giving me the texas two step around my question and transferred. Me back and forth to Comcast home security then back to the internet department. Their are a lot of cloned devices that have signed on to my gateway claiming to be my phone but are labeled SWDK3009. It's getting frustrating all my devices seem like they are being monitored. Instead of the xfi giving me the option to monitor my devices it's more like an excuse for them to monitor me. Too much weird connection errors that don't make since. And my connection was labeled CTDI_CMTX they never could yell me what it was..

I am having the exact same issue here, multiple devices trying to join my network. This just started happening a few weeks after I installed a new xfinity router (the white one). I spent 2+ hours on the phone with xfinity, was disconnected twice. Told me to make up a new user name and password, which I did, still hasn’t stopped the issue as another 15 new devices were added.

it says: “A device called CTDI CMTX just connected to your home network for the first time”

Does anyone have any idea what this is? Xfinity has been absolutely of zero help

@user_dcb18c

I'd try getting a MOCA POE filter if you don't have one already. Normally they're installed at your point of service entry, but for a test, you could just screw it onto the back of your gateway and see if it helps.

Can installation techs code or would be able to override the modems?  There's a password name all that on the back of box. Why? My tech went on his phone and made up a name and temp password he said to activate the system. I thought I would be required to do that on my xfinity app not the techs apple phone. And i hadna connected apple device on my app and I dont have apple. Is this the normal setup procedure?

That's a great question @user_8998c6. Was there tech there for an installation? If so, there is a way that they can help while there at your home. If you wish to view or change the Wi-Fi Name and password that were set up by the technician, you can do so by following the steps listed here

I no longer work for Comcast.
