Xfinity stream not casting

Trying to cast from my iPhone to my tv, My app says casting to my device, and my device or tv says Xfinity stream ready to cast, but nothing happens.  All other apps work fine.

Hello, @user_9ce9a0, @user_6ba5d2 and any others seeking assistance. If you are attemtping to stream using Chromecast there is a known issue at this time. Our team is working to resolve this as quickly as possible. We do not have a workaround or a solution at this time. We will keep you up to date on any solutions we find. We are also still having issues casting to our google home. It works on our TVs, but they may not use chrome cast.

Same problem. I have tried from iPhone (10 & 12) and iPad (4th gen) and get the same - Most current iOS on all devices, just updated Xfinity App on all devices, shut down WiFi router, TV, iOS devices are restarted, SONY TV XBR-65X800H also current on everything, and the problem persists. On my phone, when I select cast, it shows my TV, I select, and after few seconds it shows eating, the TV shows "Ready to Cast". On the phone I click on the cast icon, and I see several things. "Stop Casting" which implies it is casting. I can use the volume bar and the volume adjusts on my TV, and right above the volume bar, it says "Media not selected" which implies somehow it's not streaming to the TV because it thinks the TV is not selected!!! No matter what I do, and what channel I select from Xfinity, I get exactly the same.

All was working until last night before turning off for bed. Nothing seems to work this AM - and no other changes since last night when it was working fine...

Any ideas???

@user_fcc181 I am totally having the same issue with my Vizio TV. The crazy thing is that my tv streams YouTube videos an every app I have on my iPhone 8 all except Xfinity mobile.

@user_08941e have you tried updating the firmware on your TV by  chance?

Same here.  Just started today.  TV says Xfinity ready to stream and then in the app after I’ve casted, it says media not selected.  Reinstalled app, no change.

I’m having the same issue with trying to cast from my IPad to tv. It was working fine until 2 days ago. I hope the problem is fixed ASAP!!!

So is this an xfinity issue? Or tv issue? Sounds like i know the answer since other apps work, youtube tv,etc

I know how frustrating it is when you cable services are not working the way we want them to. Have you gone through any troubleshooting steps on your own? Restarting your TV and/or phone? Reinstalling the app?

@XfinityValerie I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the xfinity stream app on both my iPhone and iPad and still the same message on the tv that xfinity is ready to stream and then on the device that says that media not selected.  I can cast my other apps (prime, apple+ And news apps) to the tv with no issue.  Just the xfinity stream app doesn’t work.

I’m having the same problem, went thru all the steps.  It says “media not selected “ under the device it’s casting to.  What does that mean and how do I select it?

@StevieB54 Hello and thanks for letting us you are having an issue as well. The original post was for a message coming up as "ready to cast" are you seeing that message along with "media not selected“? Also, you mentioned going through all the steps. May I ask what specific troubleshooting steps you have done?

I think original questions deals with “ready to cast” on screen but not casting. Sounds like there may be orher problems being posted.

At vacation home in New Hampshire. Normàlly cast to tv using Xfinity stream and chrome cast. It no longer works. Tried from multiple devices. Xfinity stream appears on screen the three dots are moving, but show never starts. All other individual apps HGTV, dest etc work fine. Xfinity Stream works on hand held devices but won't cast. Also mirroring doesn't work. What happened to a great app?

I solved my problem after several hours of search and many various steps.

The issue is with Google "Cast" app on the TV.

On your TV, list "All the Apps" from "Settings", a long list, find the "Cast" app, and click on it, then "Clear Data", and then also update the "Cast" App.

Then shut down & Restart your TV, and it should work.

Don't expect it to be easy or straight forward - Nothing with Google is. It should have been automatic with all app updates on your TV. Hope this helps.

As for getting help from Xfinity - about the worst place for getting much help. Unfortunately they are a monopoly and little cab change their behavior for real customer support - I have dealt with them for years & years - the only cable alternate is ATT (fiber) much better Gig internet service, but lousy TV service also - so I have held off switching yet -

I am having the same issue and tried the troubleshooting steps. Attempting to stream from Xfinity Stream app and a chrome browsers.

Issue began for me with android app version 6.9.5.001. I performed every step in Comcast T/S guide, including a factory reset of Chromecast. Ironically around the same time, services using Let's Encrypt SSL ran into issues when their root CA expired a few days ago. As it stands, only Xfinity Stream has the issue. Other services work as expected with the Chromecast.
