Xfinity stream goes to a commercial break and never comes back

This just started happening today. In the past, I have had problems with the volume being muted or the picture being frozen upon return from a commercial, but this is the first time that it never returns at all. I know that the programming is working because I can see it on my Regular television. I’m running on the latest iPad with the latest iOS. Used to work fine just started today.

I should add that the channel I watch is Fox News.

Hello @user_stdwzw,  Thanks for reaching out on Xfinity Forums. I appreciate you confirming the device and that it up to date? Have you uninstalled the app and reinstalled it at all? Are you receiving any error codes? Is this the only channel you've noticed it doing this on?

@user_stdwzw​ I'm having the same issue and it's primarily on Fox News channel. It is so frequent, that it's impossible to watch TV without having to back out of the Fox app and re-boot back into it. It seems more problematic when the commercial break is one inserted from a local business rather than from a Fox network affiliate.  In order to enjoy TV programming, I have to access the Xfinity app through my Amazon Fire TV stick where viewing is not interrupted. Xfinity Streaming is a horrible product that is constantly having issues. Unfortunately, Xfinity continues to raise monthly costs but never seems to be able to correct the streaming issues.

I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with the Xfinity Stream app, but you have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

 

Can you tell me a little more about what's happening with your app? The original post mentioned it was going to commercial and not coming back. Is it going to a commercial break and just freezing on a blank screen, or is it playing an endless loop of commercials without ever returning to the show? Is this happening on DVR Recordings, OnDemand content, or both? Is it happening with every program on every channel, or is it isolated to a single network? Any details you can share will help narrow down where this might be coming from. Thank you in advance!

I am having a problem also on the xumo box, the program goes to commercial but doesn't show the picture when returning. It still has sound of the program all the time & commercial also. But the picture doesn't return, have to back out and reset the program through the xumo box again?

Same issue.  Xfinity Stream app has a bug.  Stops after inserted commercial.  Samsung smart tv.  Added a firestick and problem solved.  All channels affected within stream
