Streaming app not working

The Xfinity streaming app is not working. I get a message that says upgrade failure, please restart the app. I have done EVERYTHING. Hard reboot, uninstall and reinstall the app (many times), unplugged everything, including fire tv and Xfinity gateway, forced stop, cleared cache and anything else i could find. TV is up to date, also received this message on another tv. When i log into Xfinity stream it says no devices are streaming. I need this fixed!!!

I am able to go into the settings and force stop the application.  After that, my app works. Unfortunately, I have to do that each morning.

Same problem with Xfinity Stream app on Firesticks on Samsung and LG TVs.  All prescribed reboots, deleted app and reinstall, and firmware’s all updated on everything.  It’s a bug with Xfinity and Amazon Firestick.  Only temporary fix is to force stop the Stream App or restart the Firestick.  Every time you power off the Firestick and power it back, then open the Stream app, the problem reoccurs.

We have been getting the same error for weeks now. Kept hoping it would be fixed. Looking through these postings, Xfininity (as usual could care less).  It certainly looks to me to be incompatibility with Amazon Fire sticks.  We also have an Amazon TV cube, getting same error on that.  We have four tvs the only one we don't get the error on is the only one that does not go through an Amazon product.

Hi there, @Anon58924. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the stream app on your devices. What error message are you seeing, specifically?

What is there left to do?  I'm tired of uninstalling/installing the app on numerous tv's.  And clearing the cache as well.

Same issue for many days. Error message:

Upgrade failure. Please restart the application. Or just “…”.

I have done absolutely everything to fix as well… twice. I have an Amazon Firestick. Thank you for the menu note. At least I can watch now.

Is Xfinity aware they have an issue now at least and are working to fix it? Thank you!

Thanks for reaching out and sharing the error message and steps you tried, @user_hhio2h! I am not seeing this concern being worked on for everyone so we continue to troubleshoot/open tickets for those reaching out about it. The system requirements for the Firestick are Xfinity Stream app version 8.6 and Fire OS 6 or later. What Xfinity Stream app version and Fire OS are you currently using on the Firestick?

I have been getting the “upgrade failure” message for several weeks on multiple TV’s. I use Amazon fire sticks as well. They are both up to date. I have done all the things…clear the data, clear the cache,

uninstall, reinstall app, etc. Still get the message every time I try to open the app. Very frustrating! Needs to be fixed by xfinity.

Same issues as other users posted; same resolution attempts failed for the last week or so.  Mysteriously, both tv’s using Firesticks will now launch the xfinity stream app without a problem. So I’m assuming someone on the back end did something to effect this change. Hopefully it sticks.
