Can't set recordings from stream app
So this has happened to me before on occasion but not lately, but today I tried to set recordings for several different things using the xfinity stream app and for some reason today the option just isn't there. Over the weekend I also just happened to read that Comcast just lost a decision by the ITC in favor of Rovi in a patent suit saying that Comcast is infringing on Rovi's patent for the technology in the app that is used to set recordings on mobile devices for X1 set top boxes. So I'm just wondering is it just a coincidence that it's not even an option for me today and perhaps due to maintenance of some kind on the app, or did Comcast temporarily pull this technology from the app as a result of the ruling by the ITC? Thanks very much to anyone who can shed some light on this.

Is it possible to program my DVR remotely from a PC? A search shows it used to be possible from a cell phone app. But I don't have a smart phone, and the search results indicated Comcast lost a patent lawsuit to Tivo and Comcast had to disable that function.

As has been stated many times here, the answer is an absolute NO. Remote setting and adjusting of DVR recordings from anywhere other than your home where your X1 box is located is verboten. The question that everyone here should be asking is when Comcast will once again allow it's subscribers to use that feature. A few official responders on this forum have stated that Comcast has had some success in the courts and that the feature will be restored soon.
Unfortunately, repeated phone calls to various levels of Comcast management show those statements to be false and apparently posted in an attempt to try and quiet the unhappiness of their customers about this issue. It’s been over a year now and no end is in sight. I am getting the feeling that, no matter what happens, Comcast will not allow remote recording to be reinstated. We are in a black hole of information. It would be a lot better if Comcast, on an official and all customer basis, communicated with its customers, other than trying to sell,us more products. Alas, it seems that the only concern the company has is for our money and I doubt that will change.

I really liked to have the ability to set up/manage recordings from my phone, tablet or computer. Why was that removed? Is there a new app being developed? I now only have control on the TV!!!! Please bring it back! HELP

Hi @sonnedesign,
That functionality has been removed from our apps due to a judicial ruling. If you’re away from your DVR box and cannot schedule a recording and miss a show, check to see if it’s available on XFINITY On Demand! We apologize for the inconvenience.

It's been over a year since the lawsuit prevents users from remotely setting up recordings. Has Xfinity not figured out a way to program this feature so that there's no infringement? Please advise the status of this continuing super-annoyance.
Thank you.

the patent appeals have been won by Comcast but the import court has not yet removed its order.

I have been with Comcast since it started and have always been able to use my DVR and loosing that choice is making me reconsider my options. We pay a high fee to watch TV and we should be able to watch it any way we want to with out being told what we can do or not do. Soon we want have any freedoms left because it comes down to the dollar!

Why did you remove the ability to record shows from the website? This was a great feature I used often.
addendum:
I just saw the answer to this question from another post. Hope Comcast resolves the legal issue with this asap!

Placing this here so others can see as well, thanks!
Due to a legal ruling, we disabled the remote DVR feature while we actively pursued an appeal.
Some recent background on this can be found at the links below:

They just brought it back today! It only took them 2 years to solve their dispute with Tivo, I guess? I wonder what happened, as it didn't look like it was moving in the right direction 6 months ago: https://www.insidesources.com/this-patent-battle-is-one-reason-why-comcast-customers-receive-inferior-service-and-may-soon-face-another-downgrade/
