Can't set recordings from stream app

So this has happened to me before on occasion but not lately, but today I tried to set recordings for several different things using the xfinity stream app and for some reason today the option just isn't there. Over the weekend I also just happened to read that Comcast just lost a decision by the ITC in favor of Rovi in a patent suit saying that Comcast is infringing on Rovi's patent for the technology in the app that is used to set recordings on mobile devices for X1 set top boxes. So I'm just wondering is it just a coincidence that it's not even an option for me today and perhaps due to maintenance of some kind on the app, or did Comcast temporarily pull this technology from the app as a result of the ruling by the ITC? Thanks very much to anyone who can shed some light on this.

That functionality has been removed from our apps due to a judicial ruling. If you’re away from your DVR box and cannot schedule a recording and miss a show, check to see if it’s available on XFINITY On Demand! We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks, this explains the situation. Perhpas after a successful appeal, this feature will return.

It’s been over a year now that we lost the ability to set our DVR remotely through the app. When is this going to be resolved?? Several of our neighbors have DirectTV, and I’m consistently reminded of their service and price advantages. I’m about ready tor agree with them and move on.

It's been over a year since the lawsuit prevents users from remotely setting up recordings.  Has Xfinity not figured out a way to program this feature so that there's no infringement?  Please advise the status of this continuing super-annoyance.

the patent appeals have been won by Comcast but the import court has not yet removed its order.

So, I recentky updraded from DVR to the X1.  Pros and Cons for sure.  Quetion:  I thought I was told I could log on online, go to live TV, and set up a recoding / reminder to later show on my X1 Tv?

I have been with Comcast since it started and have always been able to use my DVR and loosing that choice is making me reconsider my options. We pay a high fee to watch TV and we should be able to watch it any way we want to with out being told what we can do or not do. Soon we want have any freedoms left because it comes down to the dollar!

Why did you remove the ability to record shows from the website?  This was a great feature I used often.

 

addendum:

I just saw the answer to this question from another post.  Hope Comcast resolves the legal issue with this asap!

Due to a legal ruling, we disabled the remote DVR feature while we actively pursued an appeal.

They just brought it back today!  It only took them 2 years to solve their dispute with Tivo, I guess?  I wonder what happened, as it didn't look like it was moving in the right direction 6 months ago: https://www.insidesources.com/this-patent-battle-is-one-reason-why-comcast-customers-receive-inferior-service-and-may-soon-face-another-downgrade/

Apparently, as of today, this appears to have been remedied. I had a msg in the app that you can now set recordings again on app and stream site. ...OMGGGGGG!!!! I’ve missed this. I was researching more info abt court cases or how this was resolved. Still searching. But it seems to be working again for now.
