Looks like it’s disappeared for everyone, no longer mentioned on their website, disappeared from the App Store.

Hi all -

The Xfinity TV Remote App is no longer available. If you still have it on your device, you may see missing content, blank screens, error messages, and/or information about upgrading to X1 service (even if you have X1), depending on which operating system your phone uses and which functions you attempt to use.

The good news is that almost all of the content and functionality in the Xfinity TV Remote App for scheduling DVR Recordings, Viewing Program listings and more has been incorporated into the Xfinity Stream App.

If you are looking for the ability to control your TV via a mobile device, this functionality is available by using our Web Remote.  Just access http://remote.xfinity.com on your phone, tablet, or computer's web browser (such as Chrome, Safari, or Edge).

If you'd like to create a shortcut on your Apple iOS or Android mobile device, I have provided some instructions below, which may vary a bit depending on the device you're using.

Creating a shortcut on an iPhone or iPad

  1. Launch Safari on your ‌iPhone‌ or ‌iPad‌.
  2. Navigate to remote.xfinity.com
  3. Log in with your username and password. If you wish, check the box to "Stay Signed In."
  4. If prompted, choose the TV Box you'd like to control
  5. Tap the Share icon (the square with an arrow pointing out of it) at the bottom of the screen.
  6. Scroll down to the list of actions and tap Add to Home Screen.
  7. Name the Shortcut and tap Add. You should now have an icon that you can tap to access the web remote quickl!

Creating a shortcut on an Android phone using Chrome

  1. Launch Chrome app.
  2. Navigate to remote.xfinity.com
  3. Type your username and password. If you wish, check the box to "Stay Signed In." to make it faster to access next time
  4. Tap Menu icon (3 dots in upper right-hand corner) and tap Add to home screen.
  5. Click Install as an App or Create Shortcut and follow the prompts to Install or Save.
  6. You should now have an icon that you can tap to access your web remote quickly.

I hope this helps!

I am extremely disappointed that this has been discontinued. The Xfinity TV Remote app is retired. It has been removed from the Apple Store and Google Play, and is no longer available for download. If you have the app installed on your mobile device, you will be unable to use it. You may find the app non-functional and/or may encounter various error messages when attempting to use it.

The loss of the remote on my iPad is very inconvenient.  Really a bad decision on xfinity’s par.

Hi @user_cqp9lm - the primary app for managing DVR service is the Xfinity Stream app.  Here you can set and manage recordings while you're on the go.  A guide to getting started with the Xfinity Stream app, including how to set recordings, is available here:

Ok, so the Xfinity Remote Control app was removed with no notice. Thanks for having me waste time trying to get it working.

The retired app had a feature where you could prioritize the shows that you wanted to keep. Where can I find that feature?

Email/voicemail too!! Website apparently is where they want to go which doesn’t seem to work properly at least for me. Total [Edited: "Language"]from this media company. They are too lazy to do anything right. We deserve better service or lower prices since they are cutting corners. We can’t even watch local sports in Chicago anymore and they don’t give us any money back for not having the channels anymore. We have to use an antenna or switch providers

Hi! @user_0kkllm - Managing your series priority can still be done using X1.  Here is a helpful article with screenshots:

What happened with the email/phone app on my iPhone? The web is not how I want to receive my emails or voicemails!! I also still don’t have use of the tv remote app!! The website doesn’t work!! Why should I have to look at my streaming app and then use the physical remote to change channels? Comcast/xfinity is going down hill fast!!

I am also upset that this has been discontinued without notice.  My somewhat unique situation is that I have rigged up a wired earbud to the audio out jack of the cable box in my bedroom.  This is so I can listen to the TV, without the TV being turned on.  Listening to old re-runs of shows helps me sleep, while not having the flashing TV on.  I've done this for 20+ years.  And with the convenience of the TV Remote app, I was able to use it to view the guide, with a filter to display my favorited channels, and then I could tap on any show on the guide to instantly change the channel without disturbing my wife.  Now I need to look at the stream app in order to find the guide on my phone, but can't seem to send that channel to my bedroom TV within that app, so now I have to switch apps on the phone, or grab the actual remote to change the channel.

Thank God Xfinity raised my prices more than $20.00 in January, and took away something I used nightly for the past several years!  /s
