Xfinity Speedtest No Longer Works

https://speedtest.xfinity.com/ no longer runs an Internet speed test. Instead, it tells me to "Test your internet speed with the Xfinity app". But I cannot find a speed test option in the app. Where is the speed test in the Xfinity app? Note that I am using a retail modem and router instead of a Comcast/Xfinity gateway. The app is running on a Motorola phone with Android v14.

Where is the speed test?

ETA: Found it, sort of. Selecting "Wifi" and then "Troubleshoot" opens a window where the only speed test option is "Test speed to this device". Here's the fun part: selecting "Test speed" opens a window that says "Test your internet speed with the Xfinity app", you know, the app that I'm in at that moment? If I'm foolish enough to tap the "Test in app" button on that screen, all that happens is an all-grey screen is displayed, top to bottom, left to right, and that's all folks!

This is NOT an improvement in speed testing!

ETA2: Multiple confirming posts at https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/6a3db581eb10f8656e693b3a, and a post by @XfinityNatalie that says:

... we have updated our speed testing to be implemented through the app for better speed test results ...

HOW IS NO RESULTS BETTER?????!!!!!

ETA: I've just received a "Reminder To Accept Solution on your post" email. I'd be glad to accept a solution, but the company has not provided one, or even replied to this post.

So true! Plus you're asking employees to use their personal phones to check speed to their office computers.

Same here on iPhone 16. Using the app opens a window which links back to the app, and so on...

Greetings, BruceW! We hear your concern regarding your speed testing preference. When you were in the XFINITY app, have you tried clearing the cache history on your mobile phone to check if the all-grey screen is cleared out? Please follow these steps below and let us know if the issue remains persistent.

-Android: Go to Settings, Apps, Xfinity, Storage, and tap Clear Cache.

@XfinityNatalie: ... Settings, Apps, Xfinity, Storage, and tap Clear Cache.

Typical Comcast/Xfinity: NEVER admit there's a problem, ALWAYS blame the customer and the customer's systems. NEVER follow the steps the customer listed to see if the problem is reproducible.

Cleared cache with same result: "Wifi" / "Troubleshoot" / "Test speed to this device" / "Test your internet speed with the Xfinity app" / "Test in app" --> empty, all-grey screen.

Came across this thread today, 7/18/26 to say I am having the same issue.  Go to app > wifi > troubleshoot > test speed on this device > redirects to website > Test in App > white screen with black X in top right corner.  If I hit the X to close the screen, it takes me back to the App > Wifi screen.

Comcast - fix your platform.

Thank you for reaching out here about your issue with the speed test on the app. If the https://speedtest.xfinity.com/ site does not work on the app, you can do the whole home network test. From there the the app tests both the speed to your gateway and to the devices you’re using to access Xfinity Internet.

@XfinityJohnG - Do you use the Xfinity App? There is no "whole home network test" in the app. It says Test speed to this device, then runs in a constant loop. Please fix create a ticket internally to your app folks to fix both the app and your documentation.

@XfinityJohnGwrote: "... If the https://speedtest.xfinity.com/ site does not work on the app, you can do the whole home network test ..."

Of course https://speedtest.xfinity.com/ "does not work on the app": it's a web site that no longer runs a speed test at all. It just nags  you to download the Xfinity app. How could you possibly not know that???

And the app's "whole home network test" is only available to customers who have an Xfinity gateway. Those of us who have our own retail devices can only measure speed by using a 3rd party site or app.

All this has been stated and restated above. Comcast/Xfinity agents are being willfully ignorant. Carry on, "Most Hated Company in America"! You're certainly in no danger of losing that "honor", are you?

Same problem here, iPhone user latest OS/Updates. Constant loop. This has been broken for quite some time, there is no workaround Xfinity, you need to fix this. Thanks.
