Xfinity Speedtest No Longer Works

https://speedtest.xfinity.com/ no longer runs an Internet speed test. Instead, it tells me to "Test your internet speed with the Xfinity app". But I cannot find a speed test option in the app. Where is the speed test in the Xfinity app? Note that I am using a retail modem and router instead of a Comcast/Xfinity gateway. The app is running on a Motorola phone with Android v14.

Where is the speed test?

ETA: Found it, sort of. Selecting "Wifi" and then "Troubleshoot" opens a window where the only speed test option is "Test speed to this device". Here's the fun part: selecting "Test speed" opens a window that says "Test your internet speed with the Xfinity app", you know, the app that I'm in at that moment? If I'm foolish enough to tap the "Test in app" button on that screen, all that happens is an all-grey screen is displayed, top to bottom, left to right, and that's all folks!

This is NOT an improvement in speed testing!

ETA2: Multiple confirming posts at https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/your-home-network/6a3db581eb10f8656e693b3a, and a post by @XfinityNatalie that says:

... we have updated our speed testing to be implemented through the app for better speed test results ...

HOW IS NO RESULTS BETTER?????!!!!!

ETA: I've just received a "Reminder To Accept Solution on your post" email. I'd be glad to accept a solution, but the company has not provided one, or even replied to this post.

So true! Plus you're asking employees to use their personal phones to check speed to their office computers.

Same here on iPhone 16. Using the app opens a window which links back to the app, and so on...

Greetings, BruceW! We hear your concern regarding your speed testing preference. When you were in the XFINITY app, have you tried clearing the cache history on your mobile phone to check if the all-grey screen is cleared out? Please follow these steps below and let us know if the issue remains persistent.

-Android: Go to Settings, Apps, Xfinity, Storage, and tap Clear Cache.

@XfinityNatalie: ... Settings, Apps, Xfinity, Storage, and tap Clear Cache.

Typical Comcast/Xfinity: NEVER admit there's a problem, ALWAYS blame the customer and the customer's systems. NEVER follow the steps the customer listed to see if the problem is reproducible.

Cleared cache with same result: "Wifi" / "Troubleshoot" / "Test speed to this device" / "Test your internet speed with the Xfinity app" / "Test in app" --> empty, all-grey screen.

Came across this thread today, 7/18/26 to say I am having the same issue.  Go to app > wifi > troubleshoot > test speed on this device > redirects to website > Test in App > white screen with black X in top right corner.  If I hit the X to close the screen, it takes me back to the App > Wifi screen.

Comcast - fix your platform.

Same problem here, iPhone user latest OS/Updates. Constant loop. This has been broken for quite some time, there is no workaround Xfinity, you need to fix this. Thanks.
