Band steering question

My Wireless gateway TG 1682G is dual band however it is broadcasting a single WIFI name, both of my bands are set up with same SSID and password, so does it mean band steering is enabled on my account or device? Should I continue with this set up or should I split the bands by creating diffeent names for them? With a current set up everything is working really well, I just wanna know what you guys think?

Band steering isn’t account related but modem related. If your service is working for you, don’t change a thing

I don't have pods, but like I said my internet works well so I don't wanna seperate the bands, I read the article by Comcast that says its better to keep it combined.

Some "new" (yes new) devices are only 2.4 capable and you may run into an issue when multiband networks use the same name for all bands.  Sometimes you get lucky and the 2.4 (dumb) devices can ignore the other bands and connect to the 2.4.  I am having this fun now (xFi modem/router & 9 pods).

@Clo5
2.4 is better for distance
5 is better for speed/performance
And everything counts regardless
of Ethernet plugged in or using Wi-Fi

Keep both on same name and password it will connect to ur devices accordingly.. if u assign different name and password to each band I'm pretty sure u would have to change each device manually
It's a big hassle .
