xr15 remote your opinion

I think this new remote stinks. Power button is very small and too clode to the channel button. The diamond buttons are hard to find and operate.I miss the remote with the chrome center buttons. Can I program my old remote on my 4K box?

The remote isn’t new, and your complaints are common. If your old remote was an xr11, you can use that instead

Agreed that it stinks! I plan to attempt exchange for the X11 soon. My biggest beef is the VERY specific way I need to point it in order for anything to work since it is so limited in directional range.

The X11 can be pointed straight up to the cieling and still work fine. And yes the power button is terrible. I have another X15 in a different room that I've tried and both are the same.

My X15 flashes red in all positions and only works when pointed directly at the cable box.

the xr11 and xr15 both can connect via RF (aim anywhere). when you press the xfinity button on the remote, does the LED on the remote flash red, green or both?

to link via aim anywhere from remote to X1 set top box press and hold both the 'i' (information) and "Xfinity" buttons until the LED on the remote changes from red to green. The code input will appear on the TV, using the remote press 3 three numbers. future X1 buttons will flash green instead of red and uses RF not IR so it is aim anywhere.

I tried the steps mentioned several times and it still flashes red. It works fine but only when pointed in a very specific spot.
Tried several TV codes as well without any difference.
Both of my x15 remotes work the same and my x11 remotes all work in all positions. I will just swap remotes for the room I use most.

press the xfinity button on the remote for the set top box that won't use RF setup. go to the gear (settings) and scroll to bottom and select about. what is the rest of the line to right of "STB version"?

The remote works in any direction you point it and the light is green. But the volume button is red and only works if you aim it at the box.

The RF pairing is only to the set top box (the green LED indicates successful communication). the red is for the TV and or sound equipment and is line of sight to the TV or sound equipment.

That would be the communication between tv and remote, the box doesn’t factor in. Your box doesn’t need to even be powered on for the tv remote functions to work

1. First, how would one know that one has an X15 remote, since the new remote I received has no model number on it.

2. Second, it's smaller, heavier and has no ergonomic curve that the previous remote had...but more importantly, it's weighted wrong -- bottom heavy -- and of a slippery plastic that makes it feel strange and slightly unwieldy in the hand. The old remote laid flat in the hand and had a no-slip feel to the back material.

3. The 4 way toggle and OK are surface touch only and much less responsive to the touch than the 5 buttons on the previous remote.

4. Lastly, the TV input button has been moved to the top left from the bottom right and the 10 second replay button is gone...why?

Of course, still don't know if I even have a X15....

I wonder if they even focus-group tested these things?!
