Xr11 Remote Coating Cracks and Peels

I am on my third Xr11 remote that has developed cracked coating.  The remote looks terrible.  Why is this? It seems that after a year, the coating cracks and simply does not hold up.  Can't Comcast do something about this?

How do I go about getting a new remote at no cost? I do not have the time to go a Comcast store.  Even if we were not in a pandemic, it would be highly inconvenient.

it is plastic, and there have been other cases where any hand sanitizer makes the plastic do as you describe.
