Thanks for the reply @CCAndrew I currently have a XG2v2-S. Those were my thoughts as well.
Last week when I learned that Xfinity added CBS All Access, I thought I would try it, and I launched the app, but got a Xfinity screen telling me that I needed to upgrade my X1 equipment. So I agreed, and it stated they would ship me an upgraded box. Oddly enough, they shipped me a XG2v2-P.
Not understanding why I would receive the same box. As I am hesitating replacing the old unit without understanding the reason for it.
Perhaps this was an error that they said I needed to upgrade?
Sorry, this was one difference that popped up when All Access was realeased. Not a mistake but they may want the other model out of circulation. There are other models of x1 boxes that aren’t compatible with certain services
Hi there! I'd be glad to ensure that this gets looked into further. Please click on my handle (ComcastRob) and send a private message with your name, the complete service address (including city, state, ZIP, suite number, etc), and the phone or account number, and any pertinent details-- like the ticket number(s)-- so we can help.
Helping someone through DM and not posting the results for the rest of people who may have the same question is wrong. It's so hard to talk to Comcast as it is, then to take this valuable self help and trash it by shutting down the results of a public query is not helpful at all.
If the OP wants to come back and share, it's up to them. It has to start privately to gather account related information. Do you need help with anything?
I had a similar experience this week in accessing the just added Disney+. I have the -S and they upgraded me by sending the -P. Is it mandatory to make the change out? If not do I just return it with a note?
I just had the same thing happen. It told me I needed an upgrade and just unboxed it and they want me to replace my well cared for S with some beat up second hand P. Should I do this or return it ?
Hello @user_b7e691 and thank you! I really appreciate you being a member of the Comcast Family! Starting today we are reminding customers with Pace XG1v1 TV boxes that these devices will be incompatible with Internet Subscription Video on Demand services as of July 20. You should receive a letter and email about swapping your equipment if you want to keep watching your iSVODs. Customers were previously notified on X1 and iSVOD apps back in March of the upcoming change. X1 features a tip card to assist you with swapping the equipment. Pace XG1v1 TV boxes will allow you to use the on-screen option to swap the box even if you do not subscribe to any iSVODs.

If the only difference is manufacturers, why should I change a perfectly good, working box? I am completely satisfied with the way mine works and with the service I get from Comcast. That's why I didn't switch to Google when they came into my area. Again, what is the difference between XG2v2-S and XG2v2-P? Box connections are identical. Remotes are different and I'm used to the one I now use.
The manufacturer would be a difference but there is also great upgraded with having the newer device. The features are updated and there is also more content availability. You are more than welcome to upgrade your device at anytime. That can be done in one of our local Xfinity Stores, with us here on the community forum and also over the phone.
