I just got an xg1v4 to replace an ancient TV box but wasn't sure if my old smaller box on the secondary TV would still work or if it would need replaced because of the new box.

You should be fine. We have two XG1v4 boxes and two of the little ones. They all work fine.

Thank you so much for reaching out, user_l3b82l. It should still work, but I would replace it just because it would be easier for the boxes to communicate if they're all on the same platform.
