Xfinity DVR question

I currently have tivo roamio with a Comcast cable card. I manually record certain local channels each month in 6hr blocks. I have to set up a manual recording for each. All

works good

while I know cable cards are still supported by xfinity, I imagine they won’t be in the future & totally discontinued at some point.

therefore, I would probably get an xfinity box. Does Comcast’s equipment offer some kind of manual recording (6hr blocks)? Assuming it would be a cloud DVR, but maybe not.

if so, can I use a mobile app and/or pc of some kind to schedule these 6hr manual recordings?

just wondering before my cable cards become totally extinct

@mfranch88 I think you would love the X1 DVR! It has so many advantages over a cable card! Like the ability to access the on demand section of your service. You can record up to 6 programs at the same time as well has have recordings extend up to 90-minutes. Recordings can be watched through X1 boxes or using the Xfinity Stream app while on your home network. The Xfinity Stream app will allow you to set up recordings while away from home as well. You can even download recorded shows on your in home network and watch the shows offline. This worked out so great from me while I was traveling to Australia!

Our amazing Xfinity Forums administrator @XfinityJessie has put together great information about the Xfinity DVR and it also has extra information about other X1 Boxes. The thread can be found here: ANSWERED: Side by side Xfinity X1 TV Box Comparison - DVR vs. Non-DVR

Although, there is not the option to record random 6-hour blocks, there are so many other benifits to the X1 DVR vs a cable card. You can also check out this great article: X1 DVR Services Overview
