X1 recording Audio occasionally over boosted distorted

I have a new 4K X1 and have recently been experiencing occasional overboost in the audio tract during high volume passages. It's like the VU meter of a tape  recorder exceeding the red zone leading to distortion. Today, I had some on an HBO recording. Yesterday, it was Showtime.

Has anyone else notice this recent X1 anomaly?

audio and video are delivered unchanged digitally. what you hear is directly from the producers of the video product.

I also had this issue with recording Your Honor on Sunday night 1/31/21 with Showtime HD. Alot high pitching distorted sound throughout program. I'm using the 4k Comcast box.

If this is the same problem I've experienced it is NOT the fault of the source. I have encountered audio distortion on recordings, on-demand material and even "live" TV (which is routed through the DVR so you can pause, rewind, etc.). I can usually eliminate the distortion by pausing, rewinding for a second, then replaying the material. The distortion disappears. I just received a new X1 4K box and have already had one incident of distortion. I suspect a design flaw in the box.

I also have this issue. Seems to be an issue with the XGv4. For me it only happens with cable channels. FX recently has been the worst. Currently watching recording of the season ender of Mayans and it's almost unlistenable there is so much dialogue distorted. Happens with live and recorded programs. Distortion is due to over boosted center channel content. I get distorted crackeling is how I describe it. Rarely do I have this issue with premium channels or with local broadcast. I often leave the box on The Movie Channel and often content there will be distorted while I am transition from program to program. I know it is not my system as this only happens with the X1 box as the source. Never with any of my streaming boxes/sources (ATV, Roku, TV and cast/airplay) or with my Oppo 4k player. The note above stating that the audio is transmitted untouched is wrong. I have dozens of instances mostly with local broadcast programing where Comcast has messed up the feed and encoding. Most recently with local ABC and CW. At times sound field will shift 90-180 degrees and center channel will be in surround but only at times on certain channels. I complain to the local station and then they work with Comcast to fix the issue. Reporting it to Comcast is not only frustrating but unfruitful. There is a lot of content out there that is still 2-channel and is then matrixed with a special equipment to output it as 5.1. Sometimes it is the local channel that does that work but I suspect Comcast does the same thing. Knowing this I'm just guessing there is equipment at the head end(s) that are miscalibrated for output levels and or have other issues. And on another note often with many of the "free" movie channels on my plan the audio will often cut out. I don't experience that with broadcast and premium very often but quite often with the "legacy" cable channels. FX has just recently been bad. It's usually those "free" movie channels. The distortion at times on The Movie Channel is disturbing since it is a quasi premium but...
