X1 DVR Tuner count problem

Apologies in advance if this has been answered elsewhere.

I have a X1 DVR and 4 Non-DVR set top boxes.
During regular use one of the boxes tells me that i must "Shut off another box" to watch Live TV on this one.

After some research, i learned the primary X1 DVR box has only 6 tuners (in this case, 5 Tuners used for what we're watching, and 1 spared for what we record on another channel.)

Is it possible to rent a second DVR box (presumably with it's own set of tuners) and return one of the Non-DVR boxes? and if so, what is the rental fee difference? (if any).

Hey there, Nictus, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding your X1 DVR. With the X1 DVR you can record and watch up to six programs at once. The Pace XG1 v1 can only record up to five programs at once. Here is a link to the DVR overview, https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-dvr-overview. How many programs are you looking to record at once?

Good to hear from you Jeniece.

In truth, I'd estimate 1 or 2 at any one time.

My question was more centered around ways to eliminate the limitations altogether.
My thought was to employ a Second DVR set top box, feels like a simpleton's solution, but as there's no rental fee difference for the boxes i figure it's worth a shot.

I have a Technician coming Wednesday to troubleshoot a cabling problem, i'll reply with the results.

Sounds good, we will follow up with you on Wednesday to check on the techs findings. Is there anything we can assist you with tonight, before we reach back out?

It went ideally, The tech examined the Coax Cables on my house and found one of them was set to a mode that doesn't work with the Second DVR box i requested. he quickly remedied the problem and i now have all of the equipment working properly (A Splitter was used on another coax cable, giving both boxes access to the signal they need to function.)

I now have 2 DVR boxes, 3 Non-DVR boxes, and a grand total of 10 tuners to record and watch TV with.

Genuinely couldn't ask for better.
