X1 Box YOU MUST PAY without service!

After the outrage of my Samsung Galaxy S20+ 5G phone losing Wi-Fi calling, Xfinity turned it off! hint went with Ooma! So another BOMB SHELL from the extortionists! I went to return my X1 box, which I am paying rent on and haven't used for a long time because I own TiVo boxes, which are better! With Cable Cards! Which they no longer give those out because they WANT money to use their equipment! So I went to the Xfinity store! Only to find out if they remove the X1 box from my account, they will SHUT DOWN all my cable cards! Which are grandfathered in! OMG OMG! Kidding me, I don't need it.  So brought the box back home ran cable out to my workshop to use for background music on a TV. Keep getting error codes; it's not a big deal its been out of the stream for a long time so I logged in can see the box online, hit refresh, and the box showed on the refresh will take up to 20 minutes........after didnt work! Did this 3 times over 2 days! Called in to Xfinity Support LOL What a JOKE! Trying to autoMATE a non working box and giving me NO OPTIONS on the PHONE! SO yep DID THE XFINITY DANCE on the phone for 1 hour! BAM got a real person. Yep, they couldn't do it either. LOL DUH! They have to send out a TECH! When is a good time? You're kidding, right? No, we REALLY need to send out a tech! Why? Because the line isn't working LOL. I tested the line. YES, I do own cable equipment. My dBmV is spot on, and to prove it, my other boxes work on it! So I said I will return the box. .......Did some checking NOW here is where you can HELP! You guys lost my INTERNET SERVICE a long time ago for LYING ABOUT upload speed! I have Verizon Fios 1000/1000 and what I am reading is since I don't have Internet with you, my X1 box is useless! And if I try to exchange it I will LOSE ALL MY OWN EQUIPMENT DVR's using Cable Cards! And it said to pay the FEE for the X1 box and be happy I don't lose my Cable card service!!!! WOW WOW WOW!

user_9cbabc I do apologize for the misinformation! However, it is true you will need Xfinity Internet to access certian apps and features on the X1 TV box.

@XfinityMartyR  WOW  the FCC needs to be notified! I must pay RENT on a BOX, or you'll kill all my cards, and the box I pay rent on uses internet apps! Which I have internet! is useless if I don't pay for your internet! This was outlawed many years ago! When the company forces you to use the company store! The "truck system" in the 21st century is called "Walled Garden"

The monthly rental charge for the box is, so you can use the box to access cable TV service @user_9cbabc, but some features of the box beyond the access to live TV require Xfinity internet.

@XfinityJeff LOL I already own TiVo boxes and receive all the channels! The X1 box has built-in Internet apps, including Peacock, which my other boxes can use—BOX I PAY FOR! is OFF! Highly illegal!!! forcing me to pay RENT on a BOX with the smart features turned off because its NOT your Internet!

I understand where you are coming from @user_9cbabc, but the X1 box will not allow the use of apps without Xfinity internet, and there is nothing that can be done to get around that. We appreciate your feedback on this issue.

@XfinityJeffThe "Junk Fee" Defense: You could argue this is a "junk fee" under the FCC's new "All-In" Pricing Rule, which requires transparency in what fees cover. If the $15 is billed as a "Technology Fee" for an interface you cannot fully use, you have grounds for a formal FCC Consumer Complaint.
