X-1 Box Upgrade - Required?
We were recently sent an X-1 box we did not request.
When my husband tried to install it, it would not properly work on our (relatively new) TV.
Customer support could not help as we do not use Comcast as our internet provider and the technical person could not tell us how to proceed. Since this is a change we never asked for, my husband returned the X-1 box and reconnected our old box. I'm still getting notices asking me to activate the X-1 to allow us to access upgrades to the system.
My question is ... with these 'upgrades' to the cable system, are we being required to switch to X-1?
If not, what 'upgrades' will we be missing out on ?
Are we required to us Comcast/Xfinity internet?

Going forward, I'm sorry to hear about the run-around you've been through in regard to upgrading your latest cable box as it definitely sounds frustrating! To clarify, ss of now, our latest X1 software that works with our newer boxes do require an Xfinity internet subscription to function which was more than likely causing the problems for you.
Now this does not mean that you necessary have to rent one of our xFi Gateways per say as you're always welcome to use your own compatible third party modem equipment, however an internet subscription would still be required at this time. Are you interested in learning more about our internet packages by chance? We really appreciate both your time and patience throughout this process!

What does an Internet subscription require?
As I already have internet service, how would this work with what I have or would I need to switch to Comcast internet?

Do NOT order a new box. I just wanted to run Disney+ and it said you need a different box. Then the next bill came and they jacked it up another $67 a month.
I am currently on support trying to go back to what I had before and they are offering new bundles etc. So frustrating. No, I DO NOT WANT XFINITY UNLIMITED SELECT UNLIMITED LOCAL AND LONG DISTANCE CALLS. INTERNATIONAL CALLING INCLUDED TO SEVERAL COUNTRIES WITH OTHERS AVAILABLE AT AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE for $10.00 per month. ( which you can disconnect in 7 to 8 days and yet will get the discount ).
I just want to go back to what it was. You just made it look like had an old box and needed your new one. You did not say you were suckering me into another $67 a month.
