X1 box requirements
Long time Xfinity customer of over 25 yrs, what is the differnece between X1 and old HD DVR box ? I have a older motorola box that is having issues with recording (not recording at times) and the remote not pausing or skipping several minutes ahead or back.
I just change my plan to get more channels and I beleive it indicated that I would get a X1 Box.
Are all HD customers entitled to get a new X1 box ? If so how do I get one without again changing service plan ?
I'm paying $13.50 extra for HD/DVR service vs the $3.50 for non DVR box and 205+ channels.

no price difference between legacy 2 tuner DVR andx11 DVR (how is your video connected from the old DVR to the TV/sound?) All X1 STBs are HD capable. the first non-DVR should be (my recommendation) an xg2 companion set top box as it has its own tuner and DOCSIS modem built in and that prevents the loss of an available tuner from the DVR. If you can wait until home service is again available, might be a good idea. note that a tech will need to go to your demarcation point (box usually) outside the home and install a POE (point of entry) MoCA reflector/filter to keep your MoCA signal within your home and not let it go past the demarcation point. the Xg22 will get recorded programs from your home DVR to play back (any room). also, you gain the ability to use a Roku device or a desk/laptop or smart phone/tablet in your home to stream your channel lineup as well as stream recordings and on-demand programming.

Also meant X1 and not X11 in my original post.
My present HD DVR can only record 20 hours , I thought X1 HD DVR could do more such as 4K and record more simultaneously ?
What am I missing ? Maybe I have wrong plan ?
300 Internet and 205 + Channel, didn't see any option for X1 other than when picking DVR and only option I could pick was using the OLD one that I have.

there was/is a limited IP only account (no home equipment other than gateway) that had a 'free' 20 hour cloud DVR. not sure what you have currently.

I updated from the old legacy to X1 a month ago. No change in costs. I worked with ComcastTed on another forum and was able to get the XG1v4, which is the best 'master' box that is standalone (no Comcast gateway needed.) It can act as a hub to other Comcast boxes.

Thank you @Rustyben and @andyross
Hopefully I can clarify.
What are the requirements to qualify for X1 equipment (remote and DVR box) ?
I have Xfinity Internet 300 Mbps and TV 205+, I DO NOT have xfinity voice since we only use mobile phone and do not want a home phone.
I am using my own approved internet modem - Motorola MB8600.
My TV presently has a motorola DVR/TV box and remote, models DCX3400 and R1 supplied by Comcast 7-8 years ago .
Bottom line:
Do I need a specific plan for X1 ?
Is it just a case of requesting a new X1 remote ?
Here is my plan -
I did find this on the web-
"To get Xfinity X1 from Comcast you need to be a subscriber to Xfinity TV and Xfinity Internet, and have either the Digital Starter TV or Performance Internet package."
After reading @andyross andyross experience and other's responding to his post on DSL Reports, i might rethink the whole X1 idea ???
Either way I guess I may need to take a trip to the local Xfinity Store to at least exchange the DCX3400 and R1, since I am experiencing record and replay issues.

You can have the box shipped to you and change it yourself. Since you are changing from legacy to X1, it will pop up a number onscreen to call to help with activation. There should not be much of a wait as I think activation will have higher priority, and it's a special number just for that. You will need the last few digits of the serial numbers from both your old and new boxes. For the DCX, at least on mine, on the back side, top-left, were several bar codes. The serial number was the 'Host SN' code. I'd post a picture, but Comcast appears to have disabled the ability to post pictures now.
