X1 Box Noise

My X1 box just started making odd noises. Sounds like a fan or hard drive gone bad. Makes a loud annoying metallic rattling/grinding noise. Have tried rebooting and powering off. Box is 10-plus years old. How do I get a new replacement?

Hello @user_a36c16! Thank you for reaching out on our community forum. I can certainly understand how concerning and annoying noises from your cable box would be. The box can be swapped at the store absolutely free! Here's a link for you to be able to locate your nearest store, see the hours, and even has the option to book an appointment to make your visit even quicker and easier.

If you'd prefer, we can also send you a new cable box, but there would be a shipping and handling fee. If so, could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address?

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary

  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

  • The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

  • - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

  • - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

  • Press Enter to send it
