Will X1 work with the XB7 in bridged mode?

I currently have Internet (1200 down using the XB7 in bridged mode and my own router) and home security and I've been tossing around the idea of adding X1 TV. My concern is that I've read X1 does not work if you have the modem in bridged mode. Is this correct or have I been reading things incorrectly?

All of my tv's are 4K (4 of them) so I understand I would have 1 main box using coax and the 3 others would be wireless.

any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

Jason

It most most certainly does. I’ve always my gateways in bridge mode.

There are some 'gotchas!" that you may or may not care about. See https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/wireless-gateway-enable-disable-bridge-mode.

Hey there @jkollander95! Thank you so much for reaching out to us here via Forums. In order for your 4K Wireless box to work, you would need to have your modem out of bridge mode in order for them to work.

Did you need any help getting these ordered?

@XfinitySelena

I have the boxes being shipped to me this week. I'll test things out and see what works and doesn't work.

thanks all,

So my order arrived and I was kinda confused by what was shipped. I was told I had to have 1 box connected via coax and the remaining 3 boxes could be wireless. What they sent was 3 wireless boxes as I already had 1 wireless box since I had flex.

So I called and talked to an agent and was told I don't specifically need a wired (coax) box. I hooked everything up behind my bridged modem/router and everything is connected and is working. Am I going to be missing any features by not having the Xg1v4 box?

summary of my setup:

  XB7 Modem in bridged mode
  My own router
  1 wireless Xi6-T box

  3 wireless Xi6-A boxes

thanks,

Jason

Hello! Not all houses are compatible with wireless boxes, so we still offer wired boxes as the primary. Typically, we do recommend that you have a wired box as your primary to help the signal to the wireless boxes. However-if you are able to set them all up without using a wired box as yor primary you should be good to go. If you experience issues, then we can always switch the primary box.

I no longer work for Comcast.

Thanks for this information. I was concerned that I might be missing some features or options not having the wired box but if i get all the same features wireless vs wired then I’m good.

thanks,

jason
