VuDu on XG1V4 not 4k HDR

I'm glad that VuDu is on X1 now however I have yet to be able to get it to play 4k HDR content. The box knows I own UHD but refuses to play anything but HDX and SD. VuDu app on X1 even has info about UHD and HDR and even some about Dolby Vision which is not supported on X1. FAQs online state that it should work but I wonder if that is only for the Flex box? Netflix and Prime play 4k UHD HDR content just fine on X1 so it's not my system but something not implemented in the app? I used to have issues like this with Netflix and Prime but those have long been corrected.  I also have this same issue with HBO Max but I think I read that 4k/HDR is not supported even though the info screens on content say they are. Furthermore Paramount+ is only in 2-channel audio on X1. Haven't been able to get 4k HDR to play there either but again I don't think that is stated to be supported. I will just keep using my other streaming boxes. Just wondering if others are having those issues and if any of you with XG1v4 have been able to get 4k HDR running on; VuDu, HBO Max, Paramount+ or anything other than Netflix and Prime.

No not resolved. I think the FAQ detailed above which is still online is in error and you have to have the Xi6? My XG1v4 boxes will only play SD and HDX using VuDu despite them listing that I have purchased 4k and the various capabilities are listed like; HDR, Dolby Vision (which is not supported on any Comcast box) and Atmos. It's been a minute since I have checked but seems like I checked within the past couple weeks. I have an Apple TV and prefer to watch from it anyhow as it supports Dolby Vision and actually upscales SD and HDX content to 4k and DV (fake but...). The only exception I have found is that for some reason SD content in VuDu looks much better viewing from the Comcast box than from the Apple TV. I haven't really compared SD on Roku ant the TV yet but seems like it still looks better on Comcast than it does on any other platform I have. HDX content looks very decent but still better on the Apple TV.

I think Comcast has decided to only support HDR/4k fully with the Xi6. Based on how long it took them to iron out the kinks with HDR10 on their native content and on Netflix and Prime that may be the reason.

There is very little 4K content other then some on Netflix and Prime. You can say 4K into the voice remote to see what is in 4K.

You are funny. VuDu is a platform to play purchased and rented content. I own 100s of 4k titles on that platform. VuDu acknowledges that I have purchased UHD but refuses to play it but only on the X1 platform. Other platforms; ATV, TV, Roku, Chromecast etc. have no issue.

Yes that what I was refering to, X1 platform not other platforms. Does VuDu shows you bought show up when you say 4k in the voice remote? HBO Max also has some content that works for me since you said it did not for you.

VuDu content (either 4k or not) does not show on search (or voice search). Some VuDu owned titles are Movies Anywhere and will show up as owned and playable through OnDemand (but not in 4k). This is because Comcast/Xfinity is a Movies Anywhere member. They however do not support 4k with that and all the SD content is presented 4:3 (regardless if it's full frame or widescreen) which is lame. Wish they would fix that but easy to just use another service (VuDu or Prime) for that content. Sucks though since it uses bandwidth where watching "owned" titles with OnDemand does not.

Here is what the FAQ about VuDu says "Is Vudu in 4K?

Yes, if have an Xfinity Flex Xi6 streaming device or 4k compatible X1 TV Box and if your TV supports 4K content, you can view movie purchases and TV episode purchases and rentals in 4K."

I read this as that my XG1V4s should be compatible. However I have not yet been able to. All my 4k titles that are indicated as such on the VuDu app on X1 (XG1v4) will only play at a max of HDX. Also in the settings the default qualities are only SD and HDX. As I mentioned 4k content with Netflix, Prime and YouTube will all play no problem. HDR10 even works when it's there on content.

Here is what the app says about HBO Max "4K Content on the HBO Max App
Select 4K UHD and 4K UHD/HDR content is available if you use the HBO Max app on X1 and have an X1 Xi6 TV Box and compatible 4K or 4K/HDR TV, or on Flex with an Xi6 streaming TV Box along with a compatible 4K or 4K/HDR TV.

Note: 4K Content on the HBO Max app on X1 is not available on XG1v4 X1 TV Boxes."

So XG1v4 is specifically not supported with 4k on XG1v4 with HBO Max. I find it interesting however that when I search for 4k that it shows me HBO Max content that is in 4k even though my box does not support it. An example is Mortal Kombat and any other shown in HBO Max at same time at theater release. I already knew 4K/HDR is not supported on my boxes.

How about Paramount+ "Is Paramount+ in 4K?
No, currently the Paramount+ app on Flex doesn't have 4K content." No mention of X1 so it may or may not be supported. I have found that it is not.

4k is supported on Hulu but not on X1. FAQ there says nothing about it.

Seems they are catering to Flex now and the Xi6 and somewhat abandoning the v4? Also the documentation is wildly inconstant and inaccurate.

Were you able to resolve this issue? Or did you have to move to the Xi6 box?
