Unplug & replug hdmi every time to work

Everytime I press power on remote to turn on TV Shows I get a blank slightly lit screen. I must fully unplug and replug HDMI cable at box to see a picture. Then it works all day until next day. This is the 3rd DVR now with same bug. I replaced HDMI cable and used different Sharp TV inputs. No change. They had to come out twice to do cable line repairs out to street as had fractured recordings.

Sometimes it would turn on after a box reboot but not anymore. System refresh does nothing. Phone help does nothing.

The problem was turning TV to Right a few inches caused weak HDMI contact at TV plug in with too tight cables

Hi there @DrStrangeSpock, thanks for joining us here on the Xfinity Support Forums, you've reached the right place for help. This is an odd one for certain, especially since it seems you've tried quite a few HDMI ports and cables already.

I'm not sure if it is an option, but have you tried connecting the equipment to a different TV in the home and replicating the issue there? Furthermore, have you noticed this issue with other Xfinity equipment in the past?

@XfinityBrie I think I found the problem possibly. Only one day good so far. I used to tilt the TV towards mid room had no problem for 2 yrs+. I turned TV to the right so guests could see screen better and when at PC in corner I could look up at screen easier. I moved it back and started fine today. I think the tilting reduced HDMI pin contacts at TV inputs reducing signal or connection. I will confirm solution in a week or 2 with no bug occurring.

Thank you so much for getting back to us here, @DrStrangeSpock! I want to keep working on this to make sure you're able to enjoy your TV service :). Have you tried using a longer HDMI cable so there's more give and less tension on the HDMI port?

Wow!! I have been having this problem for over a year! Everyday I wake up, I have to unplug and replug the Hdmi cable for Tv to come on as it’s frozen every morning. I’ve tried 5 different cables. Now, I’ve noticed one thing that most people who have this problem have not mentioned. This issue only happens right after the daily update on the box which is scheduled while I’m sleeping. Also you cannot disable, the update is mandatory. I’ve spoken to xfinity countless times about this. They have credited me for about 1/4 of the amount of time it’s been happening, but they have not fixed the issue. They can send an agent but it would cost $100, and also there’s no guarantee he will fix, as one agent came before to fix, and told me everything was fixed and good to go. Next day. Same issue. So now my 80 inch Tv has blue burn spots from being stuck on frozen channel for hours, because sometimes I forget to turn off Tv knowing that when I wake up it will be frozen. So a broken Tv which xfinity will definitely not take the blame for, a small credit, and no fix. $350 a month for this GARBAGE!!!! If comcast thinks this small credit that xfinity gave me is sufficient and I am happy, boy do they have another thing coming. I mentioned my TV being messed up from frozen spots, and they didn’t even bat an eye. I will be taking action. They should of credited me for 2 whole months which is the price of my TV, and sent out a free service call tech OR offer to replace my TV and send out a free service call tech. Either way, I am definitely taking action since they think $60 credit and a new promotion is going to make up for all of this!!!!
