two tvs connecting to same box - used to work - new x1 for multi view box doesn't work

We have two televisions - one in family room, one about 3 feet away on other side of the wall facing the kitchen.  We have been running these televisions to the same XG2v2-P box for quite some time and splitting the HDMIs with a. Rocketfish splitter (model RF-G1182).  This allows both televisions to be on the same show and we can watch in both the kitchen and family room at the same time.  Works great for us.  Just got a new box to allow for multi view  - box is model AX014ANM.  All was working well, until I try the XFINITY button on the remote control.  This very briefly blinks on the XFINITY screen - then the screen goes black on my Samsung TV and it tells me that my connection is not connected.  When I do this without the Rockfish - hooking directly to the cable box - the XFINITY button on the remote works fine.  Has anyone done this with a splitter box that has worked?

Hi there! Since the new box works correctly when connected directly to the Samsung TV, this points to a compatibility issue with the Rocketfish splitter rather than the Xfinity box or remote.

The AX014ANM is a 4K-capable XG1v4 box, while the RF-G1182 splitter supports video only up to 1080p. The brief Xfinity screen followed by a black screen suggests the splitter is losing the HDMI or HDCP connection when the X1 menu opens. Rocketfish’s setup guide confirms the splitter’s 1080p limitation.

As a test, connect the box directly to the TV, open Device Settings, select Video Display, and set the output resolution to 1080p60. Then reconnect the splitter and restart the televisions, splitter, and cable box.

If that works, the resolution difference was the issue. If it still goes black, the older splitter is likely not compatible with the new box. You would need a powered two-output HDMI splitter that supports 4K at 60 Hz, HDCP 2.2, and EDID management. Since this is third-party equipment, we cannot guarantee a specific splitter, but replacing the Xfinity box is unlikely to resolve it when the direct connection already works.
