TV and/or phone service without Comcast internet?

Two questions ...

Next week I'll be having our city's new 1Gbps fiber optic internet service installed.  At the same time I'll be canceling my Comcast internet service and possibly my X1 and digital phone services as well.  Note that I'm on a (costly) Triple Play package which is out of contract, so I can cancel w/out penalty.

Q1)  if I wanted to retain Comcast TV service (X1 or otherwise) and/or Comcast phone service, will either work via a different provider's internet, or is Comcast's own internet service (and gateway) a prerequisite for each?

Q2)  when I cancel Comcast internet service can I retain my comcast.net email address(es)?  I think I read somewhere that you can.

TIA

Thanks @ComcastDaryl and @CCAndrew  ... appreciate the quick replies.  To make sure I'm clear on this ... assume I DO cancel the internet service and also keep TV and phone services.  What is "Xfinity Legacy TV" service and how do I subscribe?  What is the channel lineup (or available lineups) and price?  Will I still be able to view programs via the Stream app on my iPad?  Any bundles available for Legacy TV and digital voice?  Any other info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. 😉

@milehiguy

Thank you for both questions. You may still subscribe to both Xfinity Video and Xfinity Voice without having Xfinity internet.

For Xfinity Voice, you will still need the Gateway modem.

The X1 platform does require Xfinity internet, however, you can still use our Xfinity Legacy TV.

In regards to your Comcast email account. You can keep the email as long as you do the following 2 steps. Log into your Comcast email account within 90 days before disconnecting your service, and you must access your Comcast email at least once every 12 months.

Hi Daryl, thanks for offering to help out.  Unfortunately, I see no Private Messenger option (icon).  Can you please verify that the feature is enabled in my profile?  Thanks.

That is something you should have available to you. Please check out the following link and hopefully that would help. Please let me know if this works? Thank you.

Legacy Tv is our video service that is non-X1.

I'll be happy to go over service details and any bundle pricings available with your account. Could you please send me a private message, including your first and last name so I can assist you? To send me a private message, please click my name and then click "send a message."

@ComcastDena  Thanks for your reply.  I see no envelope icon.  When I click the little bell icon (next to my profile avatar), it takes me to my Notification Feed not a Private Messages inbox, so no option to send a New Message.  Something in my profile inhibiting this option/feature?

@ComcastDaryl  ... still no luck.  After using that link I discovered the following text in one of the posts, "An agent has to request/allow you to PM them and then the option will appear on their profile when you open it."  Have you done so?  Also, in my profile settings, there is no option to turn on private messenger.  So I don't know if the problem is on your end or mine, but when I click on your name in this thread, there is no option to send you a private message.  Thanks for your help, but I need to resolve this ASAP as I'm literally on the cusp of discontinuing service after like 20 years.  Thanks.

@ComcastMacey Hello there, yes, I'm signed in with my primary user ID (email address), which is why I can see my avatar in the upper right corner of the forum topic on my iPad.  I can get to my forums profil, theres simply no option to send a private message, either within my profile or after I click the "bell" icon (adjacent to my avatar), which only shows notifications.

@milehiguy  Are you going to her profile, not yours and the send message box is near the upper right.

@dcfox When I go to the @ComcastDaryl profile, there is no such option.  Perhaps someone can post a screenshot of what this option looks like and where it's positioned on the screen.  Fwiw ... I'm using an iPad

@dcfox Thanks for posting the screenshot.  As you can see in my screenshot, I have no blue button to "Send a message" like you do.  Could the Comcast employees in this thread possibly examine my profile?  Thanks.

EDIT: can't see an option above to insert/embed a graphic to my post (unless it's the link button?), but take my word for it, I do not have the option to Send a message
