Smart resume [Edited]

Every time a get a new cable box, smart resume works for about a week then stops 60 to 90 seconds too early and won't let me ff until.itmplays a few seconds. What a piece of [Edited: "Language"] I finally just turned sit off in settings

Good evening @user_bk67ca, and thank you for reaching out on our Community Forums regarding your Smart Resume issues on your cable box. May I ask what troubleshooting steps you have tried so far? Have you tried restarting your cable box? You can reboot your cable box by following the instructions here https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-reboot-my-set-top-box.

I have restarted and also found a way to turn off the smart resume, and that is even worse. What is the secret to making it work mor than a day or two?

user_bk67ca. We're sorry to hear that did not help. We'd be happy to take a closer look at your equipment and run through some troubleshooting steps. To get started, can you please send us a Direct Message with your first and last name along with the service address on the account including any applicable unit or apartment numbers? 

To send a "Direct Message" ("Private") message: Click "Sign In" if necessary

  • Click the "Direct Message chat" icon
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it

Now that I turned off "smart" resume I am able to control it better manually and will stick with that.

Please accept my most sincere apology for the experience you have encountered. If you do want to try the feature again in the future, you can find steps on how to enable Smart Resume by visiting our 'Smart Resume for Fast-Forwarding Commercial Breaks in Select DVR Recording' support page. 

 

If you use one of our Xfinity set-top box and award-winning Voice Remote, you can also use commands such as "Fast Forward", "Fast Forward 15 Seconds" or "Fast Forward 30 Seconds" to help skip around. It's a feature I use all the time when skipping scenes.
