Slow Apps and Response
New customer here. My third party apps are unbelievably slow. Is this normal? Even scrolling through the apps to select a show is slow to the point of unusable because of how long it takes for the cursor to move. I also have shows on these platforms that just stop playing for a beat or two like in the old buffering days.
I just went from all over-the-top back to cable for sports, but I am rethinking this decision if this is how Xfinity performs.
I’ve dealt with support but it didn’t help. Just a lot of remote tests telling me my internet is fine and a bunch of equipment restarts. A remote fix they said they performed on the “box” didn’t help.
Any suggestions?

@user_f30dff Thank you so much for bringing this concern with the performance of third-party apps on your equipment to our attention here at the Xfinity Community Forums. No one wants to experience slow down or buffering in this day and age, so I completely understand the frustration.
Just to confirm, is the issue only with third-party apps like Netflix, Hulu, etc. or do you also subscribe to Xfinity TV service and experience issues with this content as well? Are you using a standard cable box or our smaller wireless Xfinity Flex equipment for internet-only customers?

What box do you have? If it's the XG2v2, that is a very slow box and there is not much you can do about it. The best box I had from Comcast was the XG1v4, but that was a DVR that was very hard to find. That box loaded apps pretty quickly though. Your other option would be to use another device for streaming, like a smart tv, Roku, Fire Stick etc...

The slowness of the apps on an xfinity box is the technology. It's internet/cloud based and has to go through servers and such in order to work. It totally sucks. When you make a selection on your remote that signal has to go to comcast servers then back to your box and onto your tv. That's why it's seconds between button pushes. Comcast has no motivation to fix this. They are all about Cable TV and internet service - not a free app streaming service.

Only solution is to get a XG1v4 DVR or a Xi6 wireless box.
Xfinity has not done any upgrades to cable boxes in awhile. The Xi6 is the fastest with the XG1v4 being the second fastest.
All other models, even the XG1v3 struggle with app slowness.
