Screen stuck on Select your language

I tried restarting my system and it is stuck on "Select Your Langugage" page. My remote is not working to connect. I have tried resetting the remote by pressing the "set-up" button and then pressing 981, but it is still not working. I even downloaded the xfinity remote on my iphone and that still was not able to  select "english. Please help?

after you did 981 code, and press a number for your phone number does the remoet's LED flash red or green or both?

Yes, I was able to get passed that page by having to point the remote at the box (which is in a separate cabinet. ) The TV was no longer receiving the signal from the remote. 

 

Now unfortunately I am stuck at the page that says we are having problems connecting to my cable. I tried tightening everything, restarting the box and even restarting my modem and nothing seems to be working. Hoping I can get a technician to remotely help me. Any other thoughts?

what is the error message/error number? did you verify the set top box is connected via coax to the 'input' port not the out to TV port?
