Remote turns off tv, but won't turn it on.

This is such a strange problem to have. Everything works on the remote (volume, input, channels, voice, guide, etc) except for turning on the TV. It turns off the TV just fine. When I press power to turn it on, the red "off" light on my TV blinks like 10 times and then never turns the TV on. Any suggestions?

Try a different code?
Check if it does the same thing with the actual tv remote

The regular remote turns on the TV just fine. I just tried the xfinity remote again just to see and it turned on the TV. I'm not sure how that's possible when it hasn't worked for weeks, since the xfinity tech was here. Oh well, I'm not complaining.

I am having the same problem.  Everything works BUT turning Sony TV on.  I even tried the 991.

Hi there, can you attempt the following steps:

Press the Setup button until the LED at the top of the remote changes from red to green.

Press 9-8-1.

The LED will blink green twice to indicate that the remote was reset.

It is not a voice remote.  So 9-8-1 will not work.  I did try the 9-9-1.

Thank you for attempting these steps and letting us know that you are having the same problem still. You mentioned that all other functions work besides the power option for the TV. When paired to the TV, you should have the ability to control TV functions such as volume, input, and power. Dose the volume work still?

Let’s try working on this and I can troubleshoot remotely (no pun intended 😊). We are here to support you and make sure you have the best experience with all your services.
