Pairing remote to the correct box

I recently had to replace two of the secondary cable TV boxes in my house (a whole separate story).  While trying to do this, the remote kept trying to pair with the wrong box.  I finally had to power off all the cable boxes that I didn't want it to pair with, and then pair it with the right one, and then move on to the next one.  It was even trying to pair with the main DVR/cable box, which we didn't replace and which is already paired with a remote.

For future reference, is there a better way to do this?

Ok, thanks again for providing this information and feedback regarding the remote pairing experience as well. I do apologize again for the hassle. At this time, Once your remote is successfully paired with a TV Box, it won't control any other TV Box until paired with the other TV Box however, Xfinity remotes can only be paired with one TV Box at a time so if your other boxes are located within a 50-foot radius, they would have to be powered off while you individual pair each remote to the correlating/designated device. You also learn more about the Xfinity remote pairing process here:

By the way, did you know that we also offer our TV Remote app which allows for you to control your X1 cable devices directly from your smartphone or iPad etc. without needing to use a physical remote! The best part is, the app still includes Voice control functionality just like an XR11 or XR15 model as well! To learn more about the awesome features included with our TV Remote app, please follow the process here:
