no sound on xfinity

Almost daily, when we turn on the TV and Cable box, there is no sound. I have tried resetting the modem and rebooting the cable box to no avail. If I leave Xfinity and use samsung on the TV, sound works. The only way I have found to get Xfinity sound back is to unplug the cable box power plug for a few seconds, then plug it back in. This exercise always gets sound back. I have exchanged the cable box three times and they all had the same issue. How can I get the sound to come on normally without unplugging/plugging in. the cable box power?

Hey @user_l4yif7, Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience regarding the Xfinity Video service and set-top box audio issue. I would be more than happy to offer my assistance looking into this further for you.

With audio not being present until a set-top box reset, there could be a communication issue between the set-top box and television. Since audio is working after a reboot, I would recommend checking the HDMI-CEC settings. Most HDMI connected devices and television have this feature.

Could you please visit our 'Manage Power Preferences on X1 and Flex' support page and follow the steps listed under the "HDMI Device Control (HDMI-CEC)" section. Your current setting might be placed to ON. To see if this helps with the audio, are you able to set it to OFF and see if you are still experiencing issues?

I set the HDMI Device Control (HDMI-CEC) to Off, it was ON. It has been 2 days and the problem has not reoccurred so far.  So far, so good.

Thanks
