Lost 96% of my DVR recordings.

My DVR was nearly full. Yes I have several programs that automatically record. After 2 or 3 days I checked my recordings. There were only 2 movies left. 1 I had already watched and 1 that was a newer recording not yet watched. All other recordings just disappeared. I had new episodes of some new shows and in one case 2 seasons of one series.

Maybe my DVR became full, ( I am not sure of that) but instead of deleting enough space for a new recording 96% of recordings gone with only 4% left.

Is this fixable? Can I get all, or most, or some of my recordings back?

Thank you for taking the time to reach out and being part of the Xfinity family. That's definitely not the experience we want you to have. I'd also be frustrated if most of my recordings just disappeared. Have you checked the trash can yet? You can also use these instructions https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/x1-recover-a-recording to try and recover lost recordings.

Thanks for your reply XfinityAntoine. Yes I checked the trash first thing. Nothing there. I tried to open trash anyway just in case, no dice. I have on occasion in the past had my DVR fill up. It just deleted a few things and made room for my newly scheduled recordings. As I said earlier, all but two programs just disappeared. I am sure I will not die because of it but if any of the deleted programs could be recovered it would be nice. Thanks for your interest.

I'd like to take a look at your DVR. Can you direct message us your name and address, please? Make sure you are signed in with your Xfinity credentials.

  1. In the top right corner, you'll see a little chat icon near the bell icon. Click the direct message icon
  2. Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  3. In the 'To' line, type "Xfinity Support" there. A drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list (an "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line)
  4. Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  5. Press Enter to send it. An official employee, such as myself or whoever is first available, will respond. Thanks!
