Is Comcast ever going to replace the terrible XR15 remote?

I bought a new Samsung TV a couple years ago. I couldn't get the old XR11 Xfinity Voice Remote to work with it. However, the old soundbar I was using did. That allowed me to still use the XR11 remote.

The soundbar stopped working. I bought a new one. The XR11 remote did not work with either.I followed the pairing instructions and entered a bunch of codes for Samsung but none of them worked.

I gave up and found an XR15 remote in a drawer. It paired easily with the TV and soundbar. The reason I had been using the XR11 remote is because it was much easier to use than the XR15 remote. Some of the buttons on the XR15 were moved and some buttons were small and hard to push.

I finally decided to ask Google AI for help. It found the answer.

Note, Method 1 did not work but Method 2 did. Even then I had to do it about 5 or 6 times before the XR11 remote started working fully.

Method 1: Re-Pair via Voice Command

1. Turn on your TV and Xfinity TV box.
2. Point the XR11 remote at your TV box.
3. Press and hold the Microphone (Voice) button and say "Program remote".
4. Follow the on-screen instructions and select Yes when asked to control TV power and volume.
5. Type in Samsung using the on-screen keyboard and complete the pairing prompts.

Method 2: Factory Reset and Manual Code Programming
If the voice prompt fails, reset the XR11 remote and program it manually:

1. Press and hold the Setup button on the XR11 until the top light changes from red to green.
2. Press 9-8-1 on the remote keypad to factory reset it (the green light will blink).
3. Press and hold Setup again until the light turns green.
4. Press 9-9-1.
5. Slowly press the Channel Up button repeatedly until your Samsung TV turns off.
6. Once the TV turns off, press the Setup button once to lock in the code. Turn your TV back on to test the volume.
